I worked at Sol Meliá full-time for less than a year
Pros – -Large and solid company in the stocks market
-Program to get discounts in hotels of the group
-The benefits of a bureaucratic environment, e.g., taking an unpaid leave to work elsewhere and getting back your job later
-If working in corporate building, possibility of promotion by leaving your position for a 2-year period, working in one of the hotels of the group worldwide and later getting back to the corporate building
Cons – -Extremely bureaucratic environment
-Strict pyramid structure, in which the employee has more of a boss than a manager
-The amount of "good old boys" and all kind of protégés employed
-Low salaries and benefits at the lower levels of the pyramid (opposite to the higher levels)
-Discounts program is getting less and less favorable with the years
Advice to Senior Management – -Flatten the company structure
-Get rid of the "good old boys", they don't even have to replaced
-More professional criteria when hiring
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
