I worked at SolarWinds full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I worked in the Austin office and Management has been actively making it a more fun place to work. People that thrive there can handle the fast pace. It is great to work with IT clients because they are professional and courteous. Management presses on you hard, but I enjoyed the challenge and stayed friendly to them and my tenure there was fun.

    Cons

You have to average 7 calls an hour in order to keep up with new leads and existing open opportunities. I would stay late sometimes trying to make decisions on which accounts were dead and needed to be closed so I would know how to manage my next day better. Most quarters I noticed only 18% of the salesforce hit quota, but I made 60K without hitting quota and is my reason for 4 stars along with the fact that I loved my teammates and had a blast at all the work events.

I worked at SolarWinds as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

The office is beautiful and there are lost of perks on the campus that is shared with AMD. The media team was super informative and welcoming, even though I was a contractor they provided a great opportunity to learn new skills that I could use after my assignment

    Cons

Pay was a little on the low side and although my assignment was only 6 weeks, there were other contractors there that had been hired with the intention of being made perm after a trial period but were extended for a full year before they were allowed to be brought on as FTE's.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the positive atmosphere and provide as many opportunities for employees to learn new skills even if they are not intended to be converted.

    I worked at SolarWinds full-time

    Pros

The small company size provided a great opportunity to learn more about other departments and their work.

    Cons

Frequently worked weekends, but this is a necessary evil at small companies with aggressive growth goals. Before taking a job here, just be open-minded and prepared for the extra commitment it'll require.

    Advice to Management

Continue being aggressive towards growth; however, be careful not to spread too quickly or too thin when growing horizontally across markets.

Great team building. If you work hard you get rewarded for it. Great people work for the organization. Many different products for IT admins, career growth and knowledge/learning all over the place.

    Cons

every company has cons. nothing really worth complaining about.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

The ability to make good money and fast (hard work required) The incentives (bonuses, trips, etc.) The people - I've made lasting friendships The benefits are top notch

    Cons

Daily demand for business means constant stress and pressure.

    Advice to Management

Promote from within. Hiring managers from the outside is a recipe for disaster unless they are inheriting a great team. Reps should not feel guilty or lose their opportunities for taking time off.

I have been working at SolarWinds full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Wheels are always turning at this place, it's a truly refreshing atmosphere to be apart of. Everyone that I've interacted with is passionate about the work that they are doing. All of the management I have interacted with seems to genuinely care about what's going on around them. The approach generally seems to be that they hired you for a reason, and they trust you to do what's best. Some perks of the job: •Office - Modern design, ample parking, onsite gym/cafeteria, plethora of free snacks •Free Lunch on Tuesdays and Fridays •Outstanding employee benefits •Training

    Cons

With SolarWinds being a larger company, processes are in place everywhere. I've found that it is sometimes difficult to find out how to do something here. I feel like the employee on-boarding could be refined to eliminate this confusion.

    Advice to Management

Please create more products organically. Every piece of software that the company has created is fantastic and offers a great value. It troubles me to see as many acquisitions as I do. On the point of acquisitions, please make sure you are growing the products you purchase. I've seen so many softwares we have purchased slow to a screeching halt with development. I don't think SolarWinds should be satisfied with maintaining, it should be driving innovation. We should be industry leaders in every space that we are in.

I worked at SolarWinds full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - The ability to make six figures in the first year is very realistic - Lunch every Friday from top end restaurants, breakfast from places like chic filet or torchs is that uncommon, stacked fridge and snacks - Awards given to top producers quarterly - Awesome products

    Cons

Continue to spend time with new employees to assure they've been trained right for there role. It's a very hard job so the right manager makes all the difference
