    Good company for go-getters

    R&D (Current Employee) Austin, TX

ProsGood place for people who are self-directed
Lots of colleagues who are both smart and bright
Plenty of opportunities to learn new things
    Fair compensation
    Challenging work
Once you've proven yourself, management does listen to employees here
Exceptional at explaining the vision and the model so that employees understand what they need to do to support the business
Only example I have ever seen of successful offshoring, with great international colleagues

ConsNot a good fit for people who like a lot of structure or need a lot of guidance on how to do their jobs
If you're not working out, they will quickly let you go (BTW to me this is a good thing--this company doesn't carry deadbeats on its back or payroll)
Some normal growing pains given its size and industry
In US, less than standard holidays and poor PTO policies
Draconian legal department interferes with business in ridiculous ways
Sometimes penny wise and pound foolish on spending money for business

Advice to Senior ManagementAs we grow it's going to be difficult to keep the magic that makes us good. I hope you are focusing on that and also on the "penny wise and pound foolish" thing. That approach doesn't scale at some point, and to me, we are at that point.

Fast growing company with lot of career opportunities

    Program Manager (Current Employee)

    ProsFriendly and still competitive atmosphere
Challenging work on very interesting products
    Intensive feedback from customers
    Career opportunities
    Competitive salary and bonuses

ConsCommunication between different offices gets difficult due to cultural differences and time zone gaps. Some employees need to work late night to support customers from US.
Top management decisions are sometimes not very well explained, which creates mixed opinions about them.
Investors do not really appreciate the heading of the company which affects the stock price.

    Good Work-Life Balance

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsCompany appears to be on a good trajectory and is well managed. CEO does good job of communicating vision of company. Nice cash bonuses.

ConsVery short-term, tactically focused. What have you done for me lately attitude. No opportunity for wealth creation through stock program. If you were not part of the pre-IPO then you don't really have a chance to share the wealth. Have been bringing in a lot of external management that have not panned out.

Pretty much your typical software company

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Austin, TX

Prosfast-paced, successful company. good pay/bonus amounts, 401k matching, free lunches & snacks, beautiful building. fun, smart co-workers.

Consmost of the stuff you see at a growing software company: it can be chaotic, departments aren't always coordinated, it's kind of sink or swim sometimes.

Advice to Senior Managementkeep trying to find the perfect blend of process, speed, and flexibility. make executive management accountable for the management decisions of the line managers - get feedback from employees and get rid of bad managers.

    great place to work

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Brno (Czech Republic)

    Pros- great office
    - challenging work
    - still learning new things
    - rapidly growing company
    - very smart people around
    - career opportunities
    - great management

ConsSolarWinds is a rapidly growing company, which sometimes results in a little chaos. People often change teams (based on current needs), which may not be suitable for everyone, however, they are always asked whether they want to.
People coming from large companies may find the environment too dynamic and too fast.

Advice to Senior ManagementBoth middle management and senior management is great. Keep doing the great job and do not lower the bar for hiring the best people.
