    Pros

    Vacation time
    Carrier advancement (for me)
Great people to work with (except senior management) Many people I worked with were very driven and self-motivated. Unfortunately without effective management this was not enough to drive the company to profitability. This is the company's greatest strength that is always overlooked.

    Cons

On the clock 24 hours. Very few understand appropriate escalation procedures even when documented in an OCAP. No accountability for engineers (especially if you’re German). Processes were changed on the fly without adequate data or an understanding of secondary effects. This led to MANY excursions which mysteriously resolved themselves without any understanding of root cause so they would often return. Layoffs made based on 'company need' and not individual performance or aptitude. Many promotions were based on who you know not what you can do.

A company that is running with no direction!!!

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee  in  Camarillo, CA
Former Employee - Anonymous Employee in Camarillo, CA

    Pros

The only PRO is the salary and the 5 week of vacation...if you are able to use all the 5 weeks!!!

    Cons

One day the company decided to "CHANGE" and the only thing that the Oregonian Managers decided to change was the number of employees in the Camarillo Office. From 70 to 50...six months later from 50 to 30...and today I'm assuming they have at least 6-7 employee left in the Sunny California.
The german company sold her soul to the Quatar buyer receiving money to be bankable for next two-three years.
The victims of this change were all the valuable employees located in Camarillo.
Today the company has no engineers left, only a couple of former-sharp employees (ohhhh myyyyy gosh! they are virus! that kill every company they work for!!!!) in Hillsboro.
There is no CUSTOMER SERVICE anymore!
The problem of this company is the number of the managers! The ratio is 10 managers every employee. One emp[oyee does all the hard job and ten person are there looking and making comments!
The construction managers didn't know the difference between a dish washer and a solar module!!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire Engineers! Hire Designer! Hire Customer service Representative, hire people that knows how to make a company profitable! FIRE all the useless managers that are infesting the offices in Hillsboro!!!

    Pros

You work hard, but there's a sense of a shared mission. As a German company, the vacation benefits are great -- five weeks off paid vacation!

    Cons

The global marketplace has really made it difficult for the company to compete, so they're hanging on by a thread. There have been a number of large lay-offs, but I'm hoping they've tuned the corner.

    Pros

Some friendly people, time can pass by fast, and 12 hour shifts

    Cons

Leads are not leading by example, poor pay salary. 11 an hour for grave yard so sad! No raise for last coupl of years or bonuses

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep employees happy and they will work harder and take pride in it. Everyone looks like zombies there

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee in Hillsboro, OR

    Pros

It was an exciting place to be when it was growing. A lot of different job opportunities in one place. There are a lot of smart and intelligent employees that really care about making the company successful. Benefits, especially time off are strong.

    Cons

Global leadership is very poor and seem to be in over their heads. The company doesn't really have an identity or culture and leadership hasn't put any effort into developing one that would make employees feel like they are a part of something. Problems are blamed on China, which limits SolarWorld's ability to look at its own mistakes and improve on those. Sales and marketing are weak and not invested in nearly enough. Pay is below market.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Grow the sales and marketing teams and bring salaries more in line with the market. The choice not to invest in people is a major weak point.

    Pros

Some of the most dedicated and passionate folks I've worked with.
    European vacation benefits.
Socially responsible product and positive impact on the energy supply.

    Cons

The company is struggling to survive in a brutal, changing, growing industry.
    Total compensation is below market.

Work quickly on becoming an internally standardized, mature, global company.
