I worked at Soleo full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

With so few engineers and such bad retention Soleo cannot afford to lose any. Engineers can get away with little or no work with no repercussions.

If you have a hobby or side project that you want to do at work, do it here. No one cares.

    Cons

Senior management is out of touch with reality. The constant re-organization is very damaging. In 2014, there have been 4 re-orgs. Additionally, several of the executives can be very abusive and coercive in their day to day business. Many days people go into work walking on eggshells. There have been no systematic raises in several years.

It's just not worth it to work in such a place.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Let your friends go. They are stealing from you and from the company.

    Pros

    Work/life balance, but.....watch your back

    Cons

Re-organizations every 4-5 months. Very disorganized and highly unstable company. Severe lack of communications. Sr management displays a lot of anger. Can be a hostile environment at times. No incentive or opportunity for advancement. Not able to get information to complete job duties timely. Company does provide a long term future.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Sr management needs to be replaced/ Why can't the board intervene. Are they blind?

    Pros

It's a great place to learn how a company shouldn't operate. If you have an entrepreneurial spirit and aren't bothered by ethics, honesty, or quality, then you might find the place interesting.

    Cons

The CEO is a bully that encourages a hostile workplace. Most of the executive staff spends their day shielding their employees and performing damage control. You will never be trusted to make a decision, There is no plan for longevity or sustainability. Most of the staff is from the old telecom world, and ill-equipped for today's technology. Poor performance is overlooked. Friends seem to hang on indefinitely, even when caught stealing money from co-worker's purses. The company lawyer spends most of her time coming to settlements with former employees. The Board of Directors provide no oversight.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

With layoffs occurring every few months, all energy is being put into controlling expenses and no effort is put into giving current employees a reason to be there.

I have been working at Soleo

    Pros

Fellow coworkers are very friendly and nice. The company has a very relaxed work environment.

    Cons

Management is disorganized and unfriendly. They do not respect the people who work for them. Raises and growth is nonexistent. A re-org every 3 months.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to take a couple of management classes to learn how to be professional and treat fellow workers with respect.

    Pros

There are too few pros to mention?

    Cons

Ft. Lauderdale office has hardly anyone left, and is constantly screaming at each other. Hardly fun.

They fight against new ideas, stomp on innovation, and yet the executives are mystified about the lack of innovation. Their most talented developers are long gone, and I see no future left for me here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Next time you buy a talented company, find out who generates the value and give them a reason to stay. Then you won't find out too late that your flagship database product 's developer should never have been given a reason to leave, and the rest of us would have a much brighter future here.

I have been working at Soleo full-time

    Pros

Company seems to offer flexibility with scheduling. Co-workers are friendly and personable to talk with. Company has relatively decent benefits. Independent work style.

    Cons

Lack of communication, Company reorganizes every 4-5 months or so causing confusion among employees and customers, dysfunctional managerial style, No room for growth or promotion

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get your act together soon, or your employees will go elsewhere. Learn to recognize and appreciate the talent you have. Before the next re-org, perhaps you should ask your employees for feedback before you kick them all around. Management needs management classes to control their anger.

I have been working at Soleo

    Pros

Flexible hours and very relax environment. Co-workers are very friendly and seem to genuinely care for you. Get to work on full product development cycle.

    Cons

Don't expect to go far here. You'll rarely get a raise and much less a chance for promotions, even when you believe you deserve according to your performance review.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You need to compensate your employees better. We understand that at times it is financially inviable, but if you don't you will certainly lose the best and brightest.
