    Pros

Great Company to work for. I had the most amazing boss. Your ideas are really taken into consideration. As a Store Manager, you are literally running your own business. Great bonus structure, LOTS of cool incentives, contest, and prizes that are actually attainable.

    Cons

Promotions change often. Sometimes with very little notice. Most promotions would rotate back and forth between 3 promos on the weekend, which meant change all signage each time the promo changed no matter the time of day.

    Advice to Management

Be mindful of the time it takes to change a promo, and be willing to let the promotions stay put in the locations that they are actually working for.

    Pros

Great customers who passionate about sunglasses.

    Cons

There is not a balance between life and business, it's all business, 24/7...Growth within the company is slow and very selective.

    Advice to Management

Don't waste time on promoting people you lose great prospects.

    Pros

Learned a lot, about management, how to open and close a store. Communication with corporate office made me feel important. Learned how to sell, how to have open ended greetings and an overall understanding of retail management and high end retail stales and most importantly operations.

    Cons

Inconsistent staff management, not enough hours, so much I can say about how things were run and managed. I was not even trained properly, I was taken advantage of by staff.

    Advice to Management

    Get a clue

    Pros

Great employee discount if you love sunglasses.

    Cons

The manager lacks communication which I find very important as being part of the leadership role. working here for almost two years and not learning everything I need to know with the company because of the poor training I received.

    Pros

Good pay for a sales associate position
    Clear sales goals

    Cons

At this particular location it was hard to drive sales. Most customers were not looking to spend more than $100 on designer glasses so customer service is a must.

Not much help from upper management

    Pros

Great discount , easy work to do if your a college student.

    Cons

Just like every other job this one has politics. Being blackballed in this company is done frequently . So if one person doesn't like you , There goes all your opportunities.

    Advice to Management

Promote from within the company. It makes your employees disgruntled that you would hire someone who has no product knowledge rather than promote from within and minimally train the employees.

    Pros

I enjoyed being in the luxury environment of this job and learning about fashion. The stores are beautiful and everything is extremely customer-oriented. They try a lot to be unlike other stores and they do not have an interest in being too pushy with sales, which I love. It's a great job to have if you want to gain managerial experience while also being in school. Another thing I've loved is the feeling that you get to communicate with corporate frequently. We had visits from the Vice President of the company, the regionals, and of course district managers. I felt as though people in the company knew my name and that's lovely. I have enjoyed my 2.5 years with the company! (the pay is also quite competitive for the retail environment)

    Cons

It's retail so there are times when it is very slow or frustrating because you need to make sales goals. Sunglass Hut is the biggest competitor and at times, I felt as though corporate made poor decisions business-wise that affected us at the store level. There's a big focus on Safilo-manufactured sunglasses, as that is the parent company, and there were times when it was hard to push those brands over others.

    Advice to Management

Corporate - Be more competitive! The mentality that Solstice is a 'boutique company' isn't effective and in this day in age where online shopping is so prevalent, Solstice needs to be more competitive. Effective PR and Advertising strategies need to be implemented in order to compete with other stores and markets. So many people don't know what Solstice is and that's a problem because it's a lovely store and company.

Store management - be realistic with goals. Strive for the best but don't let it affect your management style if you don't reach a goal. It only makes your employees frustrated and disinterested. Stay positive !
