Not a bad place to work.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsSolutia offers very competitive salaries, good opportunities for career growth, and average benefits. Good culture and values. They often promote from within.

ConsSolutia does not offer a very good work life balance. Many departments are understaffed. They are often lagging with their use of technology.

    Cronyism is rampant

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsGood opportunities for those in the circle. Lots of great projects are coming up for engineers

ConsCronyism is taken to a new level. Lots of politics. People who are part of the inner circle are promoted regularly or "saved" from firing due to incompetence. Unusually large presense in Belguim.....

Advice to Senior ManagementStop robbing the company. Take a look at the bonus-to-revenue ratio at Solutia for top execs. Compare to a Fortune 50 company. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Achieving profit at all cost by upper management

    Manager (Former Employee) Singapore (Singapore)

ProsDecent starting pay. Office used to be in good location.

ConsPoor communication from upper management. Try to achieve profit at all cost, thus sacrificing employees. Poor job evaluation - telling you you are doing good, but when comes to appraisel, they give you poor rank due to their system. Slow pay increment.

    Advice to Senior ManagementNothing.

    Good place to work

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsFlexible management style. Get the work done, show results and managers would not micro-manage. Allowed working from home to complete tasks

ConsFlat organization. Not a lot of opportunities to advance over middle management positions. Also difficult to move from one business unit to another

Advice to Senior Managementimplement policy of moving high potential individuals from one business to others to promote a well round manager. Understanding multiple business will improve the talent pool
