Advice to Senior Management
Better pay
Pros
Fast paced environment is ok
Cons
Grease is gross to go home to.
Advice to Senior Management
Raise would have been nice.
Pros
You can make tips given your level of enthusiasm. There is great music to listen to making it easier to work. You also get to work on skates.
Cons
Sometimes management is as always flexible enough to do things most efficiently. Another thing is that the requirements of working sometimes seem more than you're getting paid for.
Advice to Senior Management
Learn as you go. Sometimes the workers have way more innovative and effective ways to solve problems then just by the book.
Pros
Can make good tips
Fun
Easy after you get the hang of it (which that takes about a month)
Good Manager
Flexible schedule
Good Food
Cons
People who do not tip and send you back in 1,000 times for condiments
Hot, cold or rainy weather
Supervisors can be younger than you
Getting in trouble if you do not make tips that day
Being a human cash register
Wearing a visor from 1990
No discount on food unless you earn it
Mystery Shops
Have to take the courtesy tray out every 9 minutes, the timer is deafening
Can not add a tip to credit or debit card transactions, which most people use a card
Advice to Senior Management
People have no idea to tip at sonic, and if we cannot tell them or put a sign up, we should make a regular salary and tips can just be a bonus not our check.
Pros
Unlimited earning potential
Fun and fast paced
You get to meet a lot of great people
You will learn to multitask, and how to be efficient
Cons
A lot of long hours
Constantly hiring and training employees
Being on your feet for 12 hours + each day
Advice to Senior Management
Spread out the workload for your management team, after about 55- 60 hours per week, your GM/Partner will tend to be exhausted and lose focus, resulting in a breakdown in performance and efficiency.
Pros
I like my coworkers and managers. When I need a weekend off or certain days, I get them.
Cons
You just can't support yourself financially at sonic and you feel like you are wasting your time working.
Advice to Senior Management
Night management is terrible and has no balls. So the day crew is constantly playing catch-up with most duties.
Pros
Fun environment, meet new people, get regulars, tips when offered; not asked for, somewhat themed styled modern 50's. Get the time off when needed, 50% off your meals up to $10. free drinks from the fountain only. great variety of music from the FM radio they play inside and out. Keep all receipts from when you buy your shoes (no-slip), black Dickies pants, black socks, money belt, black belt and skates for they do total up to $200 give or take in tax right offs for work.
Cons
Rushed, criticized, yelled by customers, no respect, no room for advancements even after being there a year and a half. Managers play favoritism. Also you have 2 different managers telling you to do 2 different tasks at the same time.
They give you only 1 shirt hat and apron; I tell you 1 shirt for a year in a half and they expect you to keep it looking bright clean and fresh looking. you pay for your sonic skates they require you to wear. Managers don't treat you like equals. managers promise to get on something and they never do. I've waited over a year and i still haven't received my skates. DO NOT STAY TO GOOD IN ONE AREA FOR THEY WILL HAVE YOU TRAIN OTHERS THAT WILL MOVE UP WHILE YOU STAY AT THE SAME POSITION.
Also keep all time clock reports. I have seen my numbers change. which mean my times which means less hours and less money.
Advice to Senior Management
By text book standards yes you want to make the customers happy before the employees But truthfully you want the employees happy first. My reason we open first before the customer arrives we happy first to serve the smile to make the customer happy and smile and let it spread. Actually listen to the employees Just because your in a higher position doesn't make you better just makes you more responsible.
I know what my work needs to stay happy and successful and not always out of things, and yet my managers cease to amaze me by still messing up and forgetting each week.
Pros
Easy to gain employment; easy to get hours; training not difficult. A pleasant personality and a pretty face net you a lot of tips.
Cons
Extremely boring work; advancement to management unclear; no set schedule; although it's waiter's pay, very few people understand that, so can be difficult to make tips compared to other places.
Advice to Senior Management
Place advertisements noting that tips are accepted by the staff - it will make their lives (and yours!) far easier.
Pros
It was a fun job at first, and I made a lot of friends
Cons
Never really got paid for what I was worth; of course it is fast food
Pros
Easy, Skate, Be Around People, not many people involved in one franchise
Cons
Bad Pay, Work a lot, not a lot of room for advancement because the stores aren't very big
