I have been working at Sonic part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

The job isn't all too bad. I work with good employees and we usually try to make the best of our 9 hour shifts.

    . Good pay overall
    . Usually pretty good employees
. Depending on location, customers aren't inside the store so you can be you (not immature).
    . Management is good.

    Cons

. Upper management can be too picky and make you stressed out.

. Can be extremely busy and tiring after long (7-10 hour shifts).

I have been working at Sonic

    Pros

While you only get paid minimum wage, there is the potential to make a lot of money on tips. During the summer, when you work the lunch rush around 10:30-2, it is very easy to make $100 in tips. Or at least the Sonic I worked at in Florida. Also, you get to wear roller skates, which I found fun.

    Cons

We had a problem at our store where a few people who were promoted to red shirt (managers) actually wound up trying to play the system and stole from the store. So there was poor management at times. Also, if you have no balance, roller skating could be troublesome.

Fun, fast-paced, a step up from other fast food places.

I worked at Sonic part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

The tips while working at Sonic were great. Also, a very social atmosphere and the managers were great. The restaurant was run well and clean.

    Cons

The hourly wage was low and not great. Also, the hours were long, tiring and commonly at night. Roller skating also became tiring at times.

I worked at Sonic full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Sonic made me the professional I am today. I met a great deal of awesome people at conferences and training seminars. The job will give you what you put into it. As a GM, I had the ability to create the atmosphere that worked best at my stores. Management before me was extremely influential. Their positive guidance taught me everything I based my professional management career on. I especially loved the hands-on training segments for management. I cannot describe the integrity Sonic has instilled in me.

    Cons

Franchise ownership of any store meant only paying GMs up to $11/hr. I worked in two states at 8 different stores under 2 different owners.
There was little to no bonus.
Overtime/Holidays/Weekend availability is a MUST as a GM.
You can only go so high at store level. Very rarely did I see any opportunity to move up from there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Explore how to incorporate the more joy into the workplace.
Face challenges and learn from mistakes as a team.
    Guide and empower entry-level employees.
I would suggest having templates for STORE-LEVEL team-building exercises, better yet, have someone dedicated to TEAM BUILDING EXERCISES and MODERN MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKERS!

I have been working at Sonic full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Pay is good, basically you get a base salary pay usually 30-50 thousand a year and then also you get paid off the profit and loss statement usually between 2%-6% depending on the volume.
This company is diffintky making its mark and is growing
Hr most of the time favors the employee
You get to go to convention which I have been to Vegas, San antinio, San diago, New Orleans

    Cons

A lot of gms work 60-70 hours per week.
The type of employees u have to deal with can get very trying
Don't get much free time during convention
If you have a Dm that sucks then you will usually go down the pooper with him lol

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The most of a raise you can get is 2% once a year which translates to like .40 an hour. But the % you get off p&l goes up as u gain tenure so get the kind of money u want right from the start

I worked at Sonic full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    Tips
    Roller Skates
Most of the staff and management was wonderful
Understanding from the management when something in your life came up and you needed a day off to deal with the problem.
    Family oriented

    Cons

Some management did have some favoritism, and if you had an issue with one of the favorites your issue would not be resolved properly or was swept under the rug.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

All in all I had a great time working here, perfect for teens just starting to learn what a real job is. My advice is that the management should not pick one employee over another just because they are good friends outside of work. This is a work place, not a place to hang out and plan weddings and parties.
