Had a great time personally, but company is not growing

Architect (Former Employee) San Jose, CA

ProsIf you are lucky, you will get a good boss and a great working environment with flexible hours. I was one of the lucky ones. The CTO and some of the senior level folks are very approachable and very knowledgeable

ConsThe pay is bad. The company itself is not growing much.

Advice to Senior ManagementWould be great if the management recognizes that it takes forever to even small decisions to be made.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Wasted Opportunity

Software Engineer (Former Employee) Mountain View, CA

ProsMost personnel outside management are reasonable people. Pay and benefits OK. Location was nice (but they have moved).

ConsBadly managed, too many people in upper management/finance for size of revenue stream. No imagination, company is on slow flight into terrain - suing competition now, rather than improving product.

System administrator was not very competent, survived by being friend of management. Dysfunctional computing environment.

Large amounts of unmaintainable C++ and Python code - only work on it if you have lots of spare brain cell capacity.

Failed to meet IPO criteria in the past, unlikely to do it in the future.

Advice to Senior ManagementSlim down upper ranks. Stop fighting the competition, and co-operate instead.

Company consistently does okay, but never hits it out of the park

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Milpitas, CA

    ProsNice co-workers.
Lots of interesting things to do if you are willing to put in the time.
The company gives people an opportunity to do things that they may have never done before, such as a lot of overseas work.
For the most part, management is very flexible if there is a personal reason to need to work offsite.

ConsFew ways to advance or get a raise.

    start-up

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsStart-up environment. Working on very challenging products that require great deal of creativity. Helpful and competent colleague. Pioneer of what they do.

ConsPoor job security due to frequent lay-offs. Very sensitive to economy cycle. Average management. Below average compensation. Stock option dilutes quickly.

Advice to Senior ManagementIt is getting old to talk about IPO.

Mire company. Salary grows very slowly even when experience and skills of an employee grows more and more.

Software Engineer (Current Employee) Yerevan (Armenia)

ProsGood salary from the beggining (but then it will remain almost the same).
    Free working graphic.
    Friendly team.

    ConsSlowly growing salary.
    Poor management.
Bad working environment (They are trying to save even in the cast of the tickets of the business trips...).
Very specific work. One can gain here very specific knowledge which are useles in other companies.

    Advice to Senior ManagementGet up.
