100% of the CEO
David A. Dexter
Current Employee – been working at Sonora Quest Laboratories full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Like many of the other reviewers have stated, tthe Senior Leadership is top notch. The whole team, especially our CEO have done a great job of assessing the impact of Obamacare and navigating the company through the turbulent waters of healthcare reform. They have not only weathered the storm, but positioned the company for maximum benefit in the future as well.
Cons – Like most senior management, they don't always know some of the day to day irritations that exist.
Advice to Senior Management – Spend some time out on the floor and talk to the day to day worker bees.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Former Employee – worked at Sonora Quest Laboratories full-time for more than a year
Pros – Great place to work that's full of opportunity and growth. Banner health benefits
Cons – Poor management in various departments. Politics play a key role, managers like to play favorites in the workplace sometimes preventing employees from transferring to other opportunities within the company. Lack of communication and professionalism isn't always demonstrated in the workplace.
Advice to Senior Management – Continue to offer the management survey in order to rate managers by employees as offered in the past. Take feedback from employees that work on the front line, for example: logistics, phlebotomy, processing, IOPS, PSC's.

Current Employee – been working at Sonora Quest Laboratories full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Employees worked together and supported eachother. Benefits were good.
Cons – Employees were mandated to work weekends every month for over 2 years and long days to make up for the new systems problems. After 3 years the new system is still terrible and not user friendly. Countless complaints to senior management about overworked employees and lack of correction to problems with current billing system. If an employee is asked for their input regarding the new system or how they feel management is doing and the employee is honest and complains they are written up and eventually fired due to disciplinary issues for stating fact and wanting to get problems corrected. Horrible working environment for hard working employees.
Advice to Senior Management – Stop treating your employees like a disposable number. If you ask an employee for their honest opinion don't punish them for it later. Disgraceful!

Current Employee – been working at Sonora Quest Laboratories
Pros – Benefits - Our benefits are better than most companies
Values - The majority of the people in this company live the values
Perks - Free coffee, tea and hot chocolate and annual performance bonus
Team Environment - most of us know that we are all in this together. That makes a difference.
Community Service - Sonora Quest allows their employees to participate in community service
Community Support - SQL support the community through various programs
Career Advancement - If you want to advance the opportunity is there if you can do the work
Cons – Pay - Pay is good, but does not match current market according to the BLS
HR - HR is not independent of the parent and cannot act on their own - causes employee conflict
ATM System - Current attendance system is a negative for employees who do their part
Advice to Senior Management – Go back to leaving attendance up to the Sup/Mgr to track, get rid of the ATM system. This was designed for juveniles, not hard working adults.
Executive Leadership - Support the front line workers visibly and visit with employees on the floor more often.
I love my job and this company, I have passed up other offers to stay here because of our Executive Management team and the dynamic of this company. It is an excellent place to work, thank you.

Current Employee – been working at Sonora Quest Laboratories full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Lots of opportunity to move up within the company.
Cons – Health benefits are administered by Banner health. There are MANY Dr.’s in the area that will not work with our insurance.

Current Employee – been working at Sonora Quest Laboratories full-time for less than a year
Pros – This is a good company to begin your career because of its good track record. The base salary is amongst the best compared to many other commercial and hospital laboratories' starting pay. The health benefits are decent especially if you have a family.
Cons – The management style and methodology does need improvements. The list of mandatory training and courses also need to be modified to better accompany each department.
Advice to Senior Management – Please consider executing positive reinforcements in order to reduce errors and improve dynamics in the work environment.

Current Employee – been working at Sonora Quest Laboratories full-time for less than a year
Pros – Great benefits, Good working environment, Enjoyable work duties
Cons – Overnight work schedule is too difficult at this location- 5 eight-hour shifts with one day off every other week. This is hard to do working days, much less on night shift. It would be much better to have the option of 4 ten-hour days or 3 twelve-hour days. The morning and evening shifts both have ten-hour shifts available to most employees but it's not offered for the night shift. The overnight shift is a very difficult one to work at any rate, but this particular schedule is really a challenge.
Other than the schedule, the only thing I have noticed is one coordinator who I feel lacks effective communication skills and positive leadership. The rest of the coordinators otherwise are very helpful, knowledgeable and professional.
Advice to Senior Management – I believe working out a schedule that the employees have been asking for (4 ten-hour shifts) would help with employee retention and longetivity in this location.
I feel that ALL coordinators should be held to the same standards of professionalism and leadership. If an individual in a leadership role is not up to professional standards (or upholding company values), then they should receive further training and then demonstrate positive leadership skills to maintain this position.

Current Employee – been working at Sonora Quest Laboratories full-time
Pros – If you're a poor employee, you'll have a job there forever. It doesn't matter how much your co-workers make an official complaint.
Cons – They pretend to be giving you a raise and a promotion with a new "title" and little pay raise but in reality they are just saying a lot of money by always sending hourly workers home right and their forty hours and keeping except employees for fourteen hours extra every week for you to finish the work yourself. Yet they promote team work?? Please!
Advice to Senior Management – Quit being politicians.
All the good qualities you claim to be that you advertise, none of your phlebotomists agree with it. I bet the senior leadership group loves it though.
Maybe you should take a reality look at the bottom of your food chain.

Current Employee – been working at Sonora Quest Laboratories full-time for more than 8 years
Pros – Sonora Quest is a large company that has had minimal layoffs during the recession. There is a strong amount of job security for most positions.
Cons – This company represents an "old-boys" club. There are only two women in the upper-most level of management (out of 14 positions). All but two departments within the company are lead by men. Women are largely under-represented in all management levels. This is reprehensible given that over 60% of employees are women. It is almost impossible to move up in this company as a female employee.
Also, in the past few years employee compensation packages have been severely reduced, while the management teams still receive their annual bonuses. The company places a large focus on the results of the annual "employee satisfaction survey" and being one of the "best places to work" in Arizona, but does little other than issue company memos to employees when results are less than favorable.

Current Employee – been working at Sonora Quest Laboratories part-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Flexible hours, Family friendly, great benefits, wonderful people to work for. Our Supervisors are great, very understanding, flexible, willing to work with you. Try to make it a great work environment. Very professional. Very Nice people. Yearly bonus & Raise.
Cons – There are not very many cons. Sonora Quest is a great place to work. We didn't get raises last year, but they gave us all a bonus instead. It was to be expected with the economy.
