Pros – Horizontal. They let you contribute and grow. Ideas were appreciated. Work was rewarding.
Cons – They are floundering in the market at present.
Advice to Senior Management – Hire back some of the people you retired in 2009. Many are your competitors and they are eating your lunch.

Pros – Very flexible working hours, friendly team and staff around. Every week some events going on for fun, knowledge and health.
Cons – did not find any cons so far.

Pros – It's great to work for a company where the employees are passionate about the products, the customers, and the employees. It's always fun to introduce new break through products such as the full-frame compact camera, the RX1. Professional photographers are going nuts over this product.
Cons – It can be very frustrating having our hands tied by corporate in Tokyo. They need to trust the US marketing team to know our market and please our customers.
Advice to Senior Management – Ensure that you encourage passionate employees to remain passionate. Light a fire under those who are not.

Pros – Working for Sony is an honor. The company has an amazing history and many of us have grown up with the brand. Work life balance is okay, but the leaner the company gets, the more work there is to do. The technology is always changing which provides opportunities to become part of a team to market that new technology to customers
Cons – Several layoffs over the past few years have decreased employee loyalty and morale is down. Layoffs have made job stability a larger concern. The amount of work with layoffs has increased dramatically. Career path is hard to define in many cases. The larger scale of the company means several layers of approval are needed to move forward with projects in a timely, efficient manner.

Pros – Great employees who are all very friendly and have some great product knowledge. Everyone works with everyone employee wise to pick up shifts or trade them so if you need a day off you can always rely on someone.
Everyone employee wise is real close knit they will help you reach your sales goals.
Cons – Shady management staff who tries to get rid of people they don't personally like.
Terrible Hr staff, personally the worst i've dealt with. Josette never listens to the employees side of the story and goes straight for the managements side even when they're in the wrong.
Management and employees live by two separate sets of rules, management can be late as they want to be with no consequences and the employee staff even if they call in or have an emergency get written up.
Managers do not lead by example creating a very stressful environment.
Advice to Senior Management – Stop bringing personal matters into the workplace.
Get a new Hr person.
Stop covering for each other while the employees look on the situations powerless to do anything.

Pros – smart people, good product, great technology, free game room, great coffee
Cons – Management is very senior and I found it difficult to connect with them.

Pros – The brand has a great legacy
Cons – They can't get out of their own way. The organization is EXTREMELY silo'd. They spend so much time fighting each other for position they have nothing left for the marketplace.
When I started at the company 5 years ago all I heard was "We don't need to do all of those things everyone else is doing, were Sony" By year 4 I had had my fill of what SONY really stands for, SOON ONLY NOT YET. it's a shame but this brand is marching towards the end.

Pros – I had a great run with them, working in 4 different departments, but each move was lateral. I got to know a lot of great people who referred me to other positions and had the opportunity to work for some awesome managers.
Cons – They are short staffed nowadays with all the layoffs and reorganizing... so my positions frequently involved overtime and last minute requests. Moving up in the company requires really knowing the right person, and it seems like everyone is looking for a better job - lots of competition. Low employee moral and seems like going over and beyond is hard to come by. It's hard to get any new ideas approved.
Advice to Senior Management – Offer incentive to work as hard as you're expected - promotion or a raise once a year.

Pros – Great people, name brand recognition, good benefits, nice facility, many long=time employees
Cons – Frequent change in strategic direction and top management, no clear vision and strategy, counterproductive and competing goals within departments/divisions

Pros – Flexible work environment, good job options, good 401k, pension value plan, medical, dental and vision benefits, overall not that bad
Cons – Not that great pay, 401k vesting periods, company is not doing good in consumer electronics industry due to heavy competition and hence bonus may not be that great
