I worked at Sony Pictures Digital Production full-time

    Pros

I worked there for years, never looking elsewhere. Fantastic work/life balance, almost too good to be true. Strong friendships and a true family feeling. Work was great, but not a true presentation of the groups capabilities.

    Cons

Too many people involved in some projects, too many having to sign off on projects. A lot of great talent was underutilized. Not very good opportunities for advancing, the titles often didn't reflect the work being done.

I worked at Sony Pictures Digital Production full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Work atmosphere was incredible. Hours flexible and true team collaboration on the production level.

    Cons

Client side was a challenge. Lack of direction and responsibility. Production felt like an execution arm for studio and wasn't consulted creatively.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Integrate studio and production.

A nice lack of micromanagers, but difficult to see how to advance

I worked at Sony Pictures Digital Production full-time

    Pros

This division no longer exists, but it was intellectually stimulating to work there. Staff was treated with respect, and management tended to assume you knew what you were doing (rather than micromanage).

    Cons

Corporate structure was a little vague and information is kept in "silos," so it was difficult to figure out who you had to contact to get permissions and cooperation required for projects. Some - but not all! - divisions had no clear path to advancement.

I worked at Sony Pictures Digital Production

    Pros

    - Senior Management has open door policy
    - Colleagues are eager to help each other
    - Outstanding corporate culture
    - Casual work environment - depending on your role it ranges from t-shirt/shorts to short sleeved polo/jeans
    - Exciting projects

    Cons

    - Work with a wide range of personalities (good and bad) which is common in the entertainment industry
    - Feedback loop needs to be established for all projects

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Digital technology is transforming the entertainment industry and I see Sony Pictures Digital serving an important role as the studio starts leveraging new and exciting distribution opportunities.
