    Pros

as a major employer in los angeles, you will come across many people who have worked at sony at one time or another. almost all will have a positive experience about the company and the efforts it makes to keep morale high. like any other corporation, some leaders can make for bad experiences. the company invests a lot into the overall environment that all employees can benefit from, such as the many subsidized food options, health and gym services, and many other things.

    Cons

because much is spent on the overall culture, it is common to find yourself with a below average wage compared to the industry. it may be hard to advance within your department if do not actively seek this out. moving around within the company can also be very difficult if you are of value to your group. as part of a conglomerate, bad decisions by other areas of the company can have a negative impact on the studio.

    Advice to Management

use your position as an opportunity to create the environment you would have wanted to work in instead of paying bad experiences forward.

    Pros

Good benefits. Pay is competitive. Positive working environment--people are generally happy.

    Cons

Tough to make changes in the organization. People are stuck in their ways. Management has been trying to restructure the company for years, but (as stated) its hard to change this company. Constant restructuring has become the norm.

    Pros

Nice people, pretty competitive salary, the lot overall is nice

    Cons

Hard to get promotions, no stock, the offices in the TV buildings are horribly designed

    Advice to Management

Promote more often to keep key people. Better communication.

    Pros

    -Compensation and benefits were decent.
-Nice campus,Coffee Bean, Yogurt land, etc. (gets old very fast).
-Weekly movie screenings (gets old very fast).
-Breaking Bad motor home and Ghost Busters car.

    Cons

I highly advise against working here. While working at a fortune 500 company like Sony might seem enticing, save yourself frustration, and look elsewhere.

For those who have only worked at big corporations like this, you may not mind or even notice what I'm talking about. For those out there who have worked at smaller/progressive work places - look the other way, you won't make it past 6 months here.

    Cons:
-Rigid culture - Strong corporate culture, a world that just hasn't caught on. Awkward business casual requirement in non-client facing roles. Felt like I was working in a corporate nightmare back in 1994.
-Micro-Management and Incompetency - Managers who have no sense of department responsibilities, goals, or vision for growth. Exactly that, 'Managers' not leaders, the type of superiors who FWD emails for others to answer, play on Pinterest and FB all day, take 3 hour lunches, and loudly proclaim when they need to "hop on a call" or "do lunch with someone"
-Annoying loud singing and blasting of bass by higher ups.
-Complacent culture, one that doesn't promote or encourage growth, overall lack of drive and ambition.
    -Lack of direction.
-Internal technology is behind on the times. Lack thereof equipment for employees (old desktop computer and one small monitor).

    Advice to Management

-Higher ups need training on progressive thinking.
-Take a step back and slim down management hierarchy.
    -Hire new/fresh talent.
-Restructure management and do away with Office Space like management style.
-Provide employees with the resources they need to do their jobs more efficiently.
    -Don't be afraid of change.

    Pros

The Co workers are what makes Sony so wonderful to work for!

    Cons

Not really anything bad to say about Sony; oh, the coffee they provided wasn't really that strong.

    Advice to Management

Get out of your office and get to know the employees around you.

    Cons

    Pros

Perks and benefits are better than most businesses, in any field. Historic studio lot. Many opportunities to interact with a variety of departments.

    Cons

Compensation is always minimal due to other failing divisions within the Sony conglomerate. "Lays-off" talented and experienced employees for young inexperienced kids with no responsibilities that will work however many hours "requested" in fear of losing their jobs.

    Advice to Management

Relish and honor your experienced staff. Utilize them as mentors to the next generation of professionals. As a creative entertainment company removing the stuffy corporate environment that has permeated the workplace. Quality production is seriously compromised as the CYA mentality is rampant.

    Pros

    Benefits, somewhat flexible vacation, cafeteria

    Cons

An employee can go above and beyond but it's not often reflected by their pay. Salaries overall are not fair, room for growth is mostly non-existent. Upper management and senior executives provide little encouragement. The company releases poor product year after year as if they don't learn from mistakes.
