I have been working at Sony Pictures Entertainment full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Entertainment industry has a lot of Pros being a creative field. There are corporate jobs and creative jobs so there is a lot of opportunities for all depending on your area of expertise. It has a busy studio feel when you work on the lot which makes your days enjoyable. Friendly atmosphere of people with lots of perks, activities, and campus feel.

    Cons

There are talks of the studio being sold, layotffs, etc which leads to the company not taking chances in a lot of areas. Also, it feels a little too top heavy with so many EVP, SVPs and VPs with high salaries when so many others have to do more with less as people get laid off.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take a deeper dive into the production and day to day. Seems that senior management controls the voice of everyone when that is the voice of few.

    Cons

I have been working at Sony Pictures Entertainment

    Pros

Everyone leaves at a decent time, the gym, yogurtland, happy hours on the lot

    Cons

Hard to move up, everyone on the top doesn't work nearly as hard as those on the bottom which is a little backwards. Really hard to fire the people that deserve to be fired.

I have been working at Sony Pictures Entertainment full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Working in entertainment industry, company tries to give employees $5 lunch specials, nice to work on the studio lot.

    Cons

Major focus on cost reduction, cheaper is better, reducing staffing and staff salaries. Little chance for promotion in current downsizing environment. Too much work moving offshore or being outsourced,

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make better movies, change talent to produce more profitable movies and TV shows, get more production on the lot.

I worked at Sony Pictures Entertainment full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Great work/life balance, many perks like gym, free movies and cheap good food. Also formed great friendships, that will last forever. Nice bonuses and many days off.

    Cons

Too many people without any true input or direction. It took longer to get things done, than it needed. Many departments don't work as much together as they should. The company is bloated and many of the "wrong" people are getting fired.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your employees. If they are expects in a certain field, trust them.

I have been working at Sony Pictures Entertainment full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

You can come and go as you please and you won't be micromanaged. You're hawking movies - it's not life or death and the culture reflects that.

    Cons

Favoritism abounds at the expense of competence. There is no transparency in the promotion process. Pay is low and Analyst retention is nonexistent. People defect at the earliest opportunity.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

We know Netflix is bleeding us dry. Don't obfuscate and play favorites.
