    Pros

For software devs: good introduction to financial services, above-market rate, not a pressured environment (though a different story for QA).

    Cons

Some truly ancient code being kept on life support; almost impossible to grasp the big picture; you can only focus on a small subset and hope that it is professionally rewarding. Very little in the way of cutting-edge technologies - if you like to get things done fast this is not the place for you. Cliquish management.

    Advice to Management

High turnover is due to employee realisation that corporate tax is the strongest incentive for the company to remain in Ireland rather than employee investment and retention. As ever, investment in people and better relations between team leads and devs would have led to better outcomes than the current end to the sorry saga.

    Pros

Benefits, Salary, Colleagues, office culture, learn a lot

    Cons

QA loaded with work, Analysis of new developments almost non existent had to be made by dev team
Since taken over by Misys it's going down.

    Advice to Management

Sophis was overall a good place to work, pity Misys culture is breaking that apart.

    Pros

The ability to learn new technology and work on very interesting products. Its a market leader in their field.

    Cons

Management need to take more of a role in instilling a team environment throughout departments and company in general, very little if any relevant feedback to make you feel like your effort is appreciated

    Advice to Management

Instill team work, get your employees communicating with each other.

    Negative Outlook

    Pros

Picked up a lot of financial sector domain knowledge in my time there, some really nice coworkers, good salary for starting out straight from college.

    Cons

Work-life balance or lack thereof, particularly on certain QA teams (50 hours a week was normal on my team, as was working on Saturdays most weeks). Some very passive-aggressive behaviour from certain team leads and serious cliquishness among certain employees who share a common first language. Poor release planning leading to being in crunch time all the time. Very little scope to move onwards or upwards with my career at Sophis. Amount of corporate rubbish increased exponentially after the Misys buyout. Quality standards dropping due to haemorrhaging staff and burnout among Paris developers.

    Advice to Management

Learn to plan things properly using the resources you actually have rather than the resources you actually have - your current strategy is simply burning out some very smart people and is bad for the company in the long term.

*Recent multiple acquisitions messed up the team's motivation
*Non-french people can avoid otherwise promotion is out of the question
    *Repetitive work drains your energy

    Advice to Management

Bring more diversity, go global, aim for the long term, restructure the management by integrating into the new parent company, provide at least some systematic training to the employee

    Pros

It looks very good in your cv and is a good place to become an efficient consultant

    Cons

poor middle management ... french speakers have a very big advantage ...implementation teams have to deal with helpdesk calls making their life very difficult as they have to work on P1 issues while working on another client implementations

    Advice to Management

make the company more international, get rid off some little middle managers and build a professional helpdesk
