Great place to learn

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Souplantation & Sweet Tomatoes part-time for more than 3 years

ProsThis is the best place to work at when you are beginning to go out and venture into the career life. You learn about the reality of working and experience new and valuable lessons. This is where I learn how to provide great customer service.

ConsWe receive very few benefits while working. The pay is minimum. We do get discount when we eat there. But that is all the benefits we have.

Fast-paced, minimum wage, but fantastic for a first job

Cashier & Dining Room Attendant (Depended On Shift) (Former Employee)
Lombard, IL

I worked at Souplantation & Sweet Tomatoes part-time for more than a year

ProsThis company truly cares about its food and customers. The food is always fresh, and they are super concerned with putting the best food out - no cutting corners that I've seen. Customers come first, definitely, but management respects the needs of employees and of situations with difficult customers. Management was always very reasonable, and they typically keep the environment fun but hard-working and definitely very fast-paced. You get your exercise working here on the weekends, especially as a Dining Room Attendant. Fabulous first time job, as no experience is required, they give everyone a chance, and they are always there for you if you need help (whether you are a newbie or an oldie on a busy day).

ConsLots of work for minimum wage but still perfect for a first time job (or if hoping to advance). Strict about hours and punching in/out on time. Management not as responsive as I would have liked when co-workers and I expressed a serious concern about a crew leader.

Advice to Senior ManagementTake concerns about managers/crew leaders seriously, and increase the wages for at least some positions - I know many very hard-working people working there full-time who work a second full-time job just to make ends meet. The company would not exist nor operate at its high caliber without individuals like those I know.

Stable Job with Room to Advance if You Play it Right

Crew Leader (Current Employee)
Phoenix, AZ

I have been working at Souplantation & Sweet Tomatoes full-time for more than 3 years

Pros-Free or discounted food.
-Healthy options
-Some very dedicated customers
-Advancement opportunity depending on your area

Cons-Typical food service downsides.
-Some regions less into developing talent than others.
-Raise freezes

Advice to Senior ManagementStick to what works. Change is good, but understand the customers you already have love us as we are, and you risk losing them by messing with their beloved Sweet Tomatoes.

There are better jobs out there...

Crew Member (Current Employee)

I have been working at Souplantation & Sweet Tomatoes full-time for more than 5 years

Pros$3.00 meal on the days you work. Anybody works there: you don't need experience at all.

ConsUnprofessional managers and Crew leaders. Minimum wage + a lot of work=not worth it. Little opportunities to grown within the company. A LOT of favoritism.

Advice to Senior ManagementIf you want to earn some respect from your employees, learn to respect them first.
