I have been working at Source Refrigeration & HVAC (More than a year)

    Pros

This is a great company. They are consistently working to improve their processes and procedures. They offer great training for all of the employees, pay competitive wages, have paid vacation and paid holidays. They promote from within when possible and they are not afraid to give a guy a chance to be the best he can be.

    Cons

The amount of overtime can be a lot in the summer months, but that's the nature of the business. They try to gather the manpower needed to limit the overtime but it can be tough to find good help.

    Advice to Management

You are on the right track. Continue improving culture and working to be the best in the business. I don't have a negative thing to say about this company. You are all very personable people and great communicators. I might suggest that you make an extra effort to meet some of the team members around the country, just to let them know who you are and that you appreciate their efforts. A little appreciation with a personal touch can go a very long ways.

    Pros

They have Christmas parties and some years they take their employees and their families to places like Knott's Berry Farm, and that's about it.

    Cons

Management is horrible. Drama runs amuck and is mostly carried on by management. You only succeed if you kiss places that you shouldn't. HR is the biggest joke of all. They take sides in serious matters that can end them up in court. I am seriously amazed at how unprofessionally the business is ran and that it is still afloat.

    Advice to Management

Keep your personal matter personal and recognize those who actually care about the business, their job, and the customers; you'll get further with those types of employees, rather than those who kiss places that they shouldn't.

I worked at Source Refrigeration & HVAC full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    1) New computers every year if you are in upper management 2) Internal help-desk support, don't have to deal with someone who supports multiple companies 3) Medical and dental benefits 4) Tuition reimbursement 5) Reviews and raises once a year 6) Lots of room to grow 7) Great work-life balance

    Cons

    1) 10-15 year old computers if you work in the field (aka the money makers) or a remote office 2) You receive ancient equipment that isn't configured correctly and you have to keep calling back, no proactiveness or Q/A performed 3) Incredibly high cost medical benefits. Your choices are high deductible with or w/o HSA or HMO if you live in the right state 4) Only if it's an approve course that will directly impact your current job duties. And it's reimbursed up to 50% through paycheck deposits 5) Annual reviews, yes. "Raises" are only if the company is "doing well" and based on a formula of your review score, department raise budget, manager discretion maxing at 3%. I was there over 5 years and received 2 "merit raises", totaling a little over $1 (combined). The other years the company wasn't doing well enough to give raises. My responsibilities tripled over those 5 years (see #6) 6) Growth is lateral. Any sort of promotion that would require a raise is out of the question. Many positions do not have levels so you are expected to take on more and more advanced work without being compensated for it. 7) Depending on your manager. Some managers require attendance 6 days a week.

    Advice to Management

Reign in Senior Managers expenditures and start giving the field workers the tools they need to do their job. Instead of dropping tens of thousands of dollars on shoddy technology make sure the hardware is appropriate for the job.

I have been working at Source Refrigeration & HVAC full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

A great place to build a knowledgeable career as a field tech, if you want to work and make great money this is the place to work, California Service Mangers are the best in the industry, helpful, hardworking (way over worked) passionate about what they do.

    Cons

Senior staff are clueless and keep making bad decisions about who is running what, they cut cost from what benefits their performance and that is training, developing techs and NO TRAINING. they keep adding layers of managers that have no stinking clue on what this business is about. but, we have to follow their stupid waste of time process. California Regional service manager is a Jerk! period. how this guy keeps his job i don't know. Dispatch has little training, purchasers are for the most part trying their best but, a couple need to be thrown off a cliff because they are just stupid and they are still around. Go figure. Talk about pissed off Techs. You can work until you die in this place but, no one will appreciate it. the benefits have been reduced in the past few years, no incentives, no bonuses and now they will be messing with payroll.

    Advice to Management

Stop wasting our money on stupid unhelpful consulting groups, promote within and get rid of careless employees that have no compassion of regard to other people. You are very disloyal to your employees so, Stop it and bring wellness back in to this place. Pay attention to your employees and take better care of your people. Provide support, provide training, pay closer attention to your customers and help your mangers.

    Pros

Great insurance, more paid holidays than most companies

    Cons

I worked as a electrician out of the Atlanta office which the Atlanta office went belly up in less than a year because of pitiful management

    Advice to Management

When you go into new areas and buy up these companies and add them to source do some research on the cant you are buying, the electrical Company you bought in Georgia was bankrupt and out of business when you bought it lol

I worked at Source Refrigeration & HVAC full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Direct management was great, leading edge technology and constantly striving to make applications for techs better. Great office atmosphere. Expanding rapidly.

    Cons

Sr Management seemed confused and little coherent direction. No bonuses, or selective bonuses. Salaries a bit on the low side. high turnover in the field positions. Communication is sometimes difficult

    Advice to Management

Set better direction, and solicit input from SMEs rather than making decisions blind and then forcing them on everyone, and demanding that unworkable decisions be made to work
