I worked at South Austin Hospital

    Pros

Most of the staff are friendly, but this is South Austin so I think that is more of a reflection of the community than the hospital itself. Paid education.

    Cons

EXTREMELY busy facility with unsafe nurse:patient ratios. If staffing is adequate they will cut staff.
Dangerous patient population with minimal safety for staff.
Horrible management that cares more about going to fancy paid bonding retreats than paying their deserving staff a decent wage.
Cuts to benefits every single year.
Total elimination of the weekend plan and elimination of most shift differentials.
Nurses with bachelor's degrees and specialty certifications are not paid a penny more.
If you are not management you are treated like a laborer.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase pay and benefits, especially merit-based raises.
Don't cut staff to save money. Patients die when this happens.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO
