    Pros

Energetic, demanding environment that fosters creativity, critical thinking, and diligence. They have a passion for getting the story right and offering opportunities to well-qualified individuals.

    Cons

Upper management needs to do a better job of following up with reporters on important details necessary for reporting their stories. Payment took nearly a year to get correct.

    Pros

Opportunity to learn new computer programs which was cool, good company to put on your resume. Good news market

    Cons

Horrible management and it sucks. Layoffs like crazy. The newspaper industry is going down the drain, and the Sentinel won't last long.

    Advice to Management

Take care of your employees better because yall suck

    Pros

The people were phenomenal to work with. The manaagement team was fair and open. Ideas were solicited and acted upon. Work-life balance was challenging but encouraged. Assignements were robust; cross functional teamwork was strongly encouraged and rewarded.

    Cons

Elongated bankruptcy process placed a drag on employee engagement and productivity. Lack of strong commitment to employee development and training. Print media is on a down-ward spiral and long-term career advancement is questionable at best.

    Advice to Management

Continue to celebrate the sucesses of the employees. Continue to to encourage management fundamentals and provide appropriate training for employees.

    Pros

They give you access to a number of media sources ( print, direct mail, TV, online) to use for client campaigns. Training is above par and co-workers are a great source of knowledge and support.

    Cons

Advancement takes alot of A@# kissing and not based solely on merit. Changing pay scale on a monthly basis without notice. They prevent you from making money once you start to suceed with a pay plan. They have thinking stuck in the 80s before the internet and that leaves them behind compared to most media companies.

    Advice to Management

Open your eyes to the talent with your salespeople. Start to pay the creative teams and get some marketing people with some creativity.

    Pros

Good editors, exciting city to work and live in, lots of crime and corruption going on make good stories. Pay is higher than at other papers in the area.

    Cons

Job insecurity. Too many layoffs made it difficult to work there. You see your good friends go and then are asked to do their job.

    Advice to Management

There's not much to do, the same situation is seen across other papers, it's a tough industry. Still, overall editors are understanding and are going through the same challenges.
