I have been working at South Indian Bank full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great salary and perks, Great work atmosphere, lots of good people around, real fun to work with, work related stress is less, good chance for promotions at young age, good atmosphere for learning, good HR department.

    Cons

    1. No defined transfer policy in case of probationers, some people get transfers and others do not. Based on their hold with the top management. After 2 3 years of service you'll have the chance of getting transferred back to home station. However, the fact that some people are posted favourably , and others are not is not fair.
2.The promotion policy sometimes overlook really talented employees and totally worthless people get promotion simply because they are better than the others at flattery.( All this is my observation regarding staff at my branch, both categories are present there.)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take care in choosing the right people to the higher management and please donot overlook really talented, earnest and deserving employees. They lose the will to work. And please donot promote those who simply wag their tongues, they are unbearable at office! other than that, Kudos!!!!!!

I worked at South Indian Bank full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    1. Friendly and helpful colleagues.
    2. Safe and secure job.
    3. One of the best banks in the country.
    4. People respect your job and the Bank.
    5. Dr. V.A Joseph has taken this Bank to another level. #respect
    6. Enough freedom to employees.
    7. Lot of benefits like the leave options for higher studies and maternity.

    Cons

    1. Salary was too low
    2. Not much growth. Good for people who just want a safe job and move on the same way till they turn 60.
    3. Less staff and more work. (outside Kerala)
    4. Moreeeee staff and less work. (inside Kerala)
    5. Too much stress most of the time.
    6. A bit of religion based politics. Which is getting low these days.
    7. Really bad recruiting. I had a colleague who didn't even know the use of a cheque and another one who tried counting coins in a currency counting machine #iamNotExaggerating.
    8. Frequent transfers. Oh boy I had 2 in a span of 60-70 days.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I agree customers are important. Staffs tooo. Take care of you staffs really well, because they are the front end which deals with the customers. If "A" is happy it shows on A's face and happiness reflects on customers face. Customer happy = more business. Please please avoid frequent transfers. I had taken a house for rent paying 10 months rent (No HRA.I was a clerk & i paid from my pocket) advance which was non refundable and in two months time i was transferred. I had to travel 100km one side and total of 7 hrs of travelling daily, which ruined my interest to work, I started hating the Bank and I resigned.
It will be good if you look into this matter.
