Has potential, but needs to slow expansion and makes sure what they already have is working well.

Behavioral Health Services (Former Employee) Anchorage, AK

ProsOrganization that provides care to Alaska Native population and a great improvement on what has been available in the past. Salaries seem fair and company will do periodic salary reviews (comparing to industry standards) and raise salaries if indicated without employee request. Lots of "feel good" training options.

ConsConstant restructuring. Often poor hiring choices for middle management. Tons of politics. Lip service given to "listening" to employees, but no follow through. This organization is trying to cover so many needs in the community that is growing too fast and taking on too many projects. As a result the current programs suffer, which is unfortunate because there is incredible potential here. Sometimes hiring promises are made that are not kept. Frequently understaffed in some programs. Management is often so busy in meetings that they have little time to manage.

Advice to Senior ManagementWhen you take the time to hold repeated meetings to recieve employee feedback, it would benefit all if you actually responded in some manner to that feedback. Good, constructive suggestions have been offered by people who care deeply about the mission of this organization and its programs. Don't spread yourselves so thinly... you will not be able to offer high quality services in every single area of need.

    Nepotism and racism abound.

Applications Developer (Former Employee) Anchorage, AK

ProsIt is a good feeling to help. There is a lot of good that can be done while working with them.

ConsIn IT, there are abusive managers (verbally and physically). In the rest of the company, the leadership is primarily the same family. The pay is really low.

Advice to Senior ManagementQuit, and try to hire replacements based on qualifications, not family lines.

    Great

    Supervisor (Former Employee)

ProsGreat benefits and people to work with.

ConsNeeds better HR backing to support management in the clinical area. Consistency on policies is important.

Advice to Senior ManagementMake positive change and improvements, but communicate the changes better so departments are not left out of the loop. Don't change so much that there is not consistency throughout the company.
