I worked at Southern Adventist University part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

    *positive work environment
*willing to work with you and your class schedule
    *friendly bosses

I was a TA for a class I had already taken so it was like having a refresher course while getting paid :)

    Cons

Working with students can be difficult sometimes...We all have bad days so it's understandable, but some individuals are tougher than others.
Pay is not much above minimum wage, but it's a college campus so I wasn't expecting more.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at Southern Adventist University full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

As an adjunct and then later an assistant professor I had the opportunity to be part of the team in the School of Education and Psychology. My supervisors were great and the office staff were incredibly supportive and helpful. I was given a lot of freedom to develop my curriculum.

    Cons

Having to both teach and be an academic advisor created a lot of extra stress. At times the environment was a little restrictive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It would be beneficial to separate teaching and advising and get full time advisors that would free up teachers to focus on teaching.

I have been working at Southern Adventist University

    Pros

get to be on the inside in knowing what is happening around the dorm.
Have a say in imposing dorm rules and making sure the students behave.
my own room, not having to go to worship/vespers.

    Cons

the quality of the students is very low and unmotivated. it makes it very stressful to be around those type of people when trying to be a student myself.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

need to be stricter. lay down the law. punish students when they misbehave. It happens a little bit but not enough. Deans are too lenient.
