Pros
Great benefits, above market pay, people are extremely nice. Job security is definitely there and there is a real sense of family within the company.
Cons
Given the utilities space and how the business operates, the company moves incredibly slowly and does not fire its low performing workers. It can be disheartening to see managers and senior workers at the workplace not doing work.
Advice to Senior Management
Be more flexible in relation to the 18-month rule for staying within a position. While it makes sense to have the rule, I truly believe that you are killing incentives for Gen. Y people to perform

Lots of job options once you are inside company. Lots of training options. Smart people. Good 401K matching. Fairly stable (not a lot of layoffs).
Cons
Southern California is a difficult place to live. There is usually a long commute to wherever your office is. You tend to move around offices, so even if you live close to your office, you will probably be driving far soon.
Advice to Senior Management
My advice would be to have less management by committee. There are too many meetings with too many people in them that do not need to be there.
Pros
Pay is above market average, the EMPLOYEES are great, workplace environment generally promotes growth, there is plenty of growth potential.
Cons
If you work here as a temp you've already hit your glass ceiling. The overall experience of your time here will be based up on how your manager is. There are alot of interoffice politics and managers who are blatantly unfit for their position. Temps will do most the work, and get none of the credit, and are the first to be blamed. With an evolving corporate environment, many line employees are being given administrative positions and lack the skills to perform them competently. Nepotism is the fastest way to promotion.
Advice to Senior Management
Get rid of the "Good Old Boys Club" mentality. The relationship with the temporary workers needs to be improved tremendously. Hire and foster competent employees.
Pros
The company have excellent benefits and is a good place to spend the rest of your career. The compensation is very competitive although the merit increase (raise) is very slow.
Cons
There are too many management. you have to go to 6-10 Tiers of management to get to the VP. The higher management basically just attends meetings so that he can pass on the information in the form of another meeting to managers below him. Most managers are not performers but are relay catalysts who just passes the command to lower managers for execution by employees. Communication is one-way and it is very hard to bring a concern forward to upper management.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to your employees and do something about their concerns. Get your feet wet by actually observing how a task is accomplished instead of having a set of theorized instructions that does not work in the real world.

The pay is fairly competitive and your job is safe, since utilities are a necessity

In the lower analyst positions, there is a lot of idle time and grunt work

The workforce has moved into the 21st century, so should you and your thinking
Pros
stable industry not suffering from economic crisis, job for life, great benefits and work and home life is well balanced. Lot's of locations to work within So Cal.
Cons
management are micro managers, NO sense of team building and mentoring. You will be ask to spend as much money as you can in one year, just to meet yearly budget, even if the rate payer (all of us) pays the bill.
Advice to Senior Management
try hiring management within the department and or in line promotion. Avoid bringing in your buddies and ex-coworkers from the old Nuclear plant.
Do what is right for the rate payer, not your performance bonus. Trying push a project through before the end of year just to meet corporate goal should not be allowed if Safety and compliance will be at risk. Share holders should be 2nd place in the priority, not the public.

High character, quality oriented organization that is about doing things right.
Cons
Some old school habits promoting those who have been around just because they are around still.
