Former Employee – worked at Southern Connecticut State University
Pros – Definitely a straight part-time job for me. I only worked during the day while attending school because I did not want to bust residents for alcohol.
Cons – The mandatory training seminars are tedious.

Current Employee – been working at Southern Connecticut State University
Pros – Excellent location in regards to prozimity to New York City and Boston, not to mention the vibrant culture and community in downtorn New Haven.
Cons – Students are disconnected and lack motivation; professors let selfish motivations govern their actions and rarely take the students' best interests into consideration; administration is not proactive when dealing with problems often leaving the students to deal with the repercussions of discordant faculty members.
Advice to Senior Management – Remember the purpose of an educational institution: to provide the best education possible for the students. There are and will always be limiting factors to this ideal, but selfishness and laziness should NEVER be one.

Current Employee – been working at Southern Connecticut State University
Pros – Good salary and benifits and many good coworkers. The students are wonderful and there are some nice ammenties because it is a college campus.
Cons – Poor leadership in many departments, some departments are downright toxic. Lack of professional development for leaders or staff. Hiring requirements frequently adjusted and down graded so that upper level management can promote friends and supporters who are not qualified for the position. In a poor economy there is no reason to lower requirements for a position when there are many good candiadates who meet the stated requirements. The cronyism is blatant. Technology solutions are not up to date in many areas. Lack of good planning in decision making many things fail because they were not adaquatly planned for in advance.
Advice to Senior Management – Bring in qualified leader and do not allow leadership positions to go unfilled for long periods of time becasue it hurts the effectiveness of the departments and university as a whole.
