Pros – It was like a big family. They really do a great job of hiring people that mesh well together. Of course there are quite a bit if family members there also. They have a great business plan and have a future of growth ahead of them.
Cons – Maybe too much family, it could possibly make it hard for an outsider to climb the ladder.
Advice to Senior Management – Keep it up, you are great and I admire your willingness to change with growth of the company as a goal.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company
Pros – Senior management are nice. Additionally, you will learn about direct sales and tactics. You will begin most mornings by reporting to the Metairie office for a prep talk and/or business planning. Next the new recruits will then proceed to their assigned stores.
Cons – I interviewed along with about a dozen other individuals. They offer about $300 to $400 a week in base pay plus commission potential. However, you are expected to stand in either Best Buy, Costco, Sam's Club or Walmart to sale DirectTV, Cox Cable, and/or Charter.
While it is possible to make sales, most people do not go to these stores with the intention of changing TV and/or internet/phone providers. You must first grab their attention before you can discuss the deals available with the various TV/Internet/phone providers, thus many people have difficulty with this. However, after getting their attention you must then close the deal. The company has high employee turnover as they will fire you after one or maybe two weeks if you don't make any sells. For those who are good at using high pressure tactics to close a sale upon the first and only conversation with the potential client, many still end up resigning within a few months as its difficult to close enough to earn a reasonable living. The average employee must close 3 to 4 deals each week before you start to earn commission. Most employees are lucky if they close 1 to 2 deals per week.
However, if you do make sells and get promoted, you will then begin to earn residual income from the other new recruits who make sells that you will be responsible for training. They offer quick advancement (if you can routinely sell) because they are in need of many people to train new recruits so they can staff as many stores as possible. However, again it is a continuous hiring process as new recruits often do not make the cut and/or resign.
To get new recruits the company uses job titles that are not reflectent of the duties the job entails. They also like to tout that you can quickly be promoted and its all up to your ability to sell. However, depending on your length of stay with the company, you will learn about direct sales and employee recruiting. Do not expect to learn the fundamentals of marketing & advertising as most faucets of this will not be incorporated into any position you can hold with this company.
