    Pros

Dynamic media environment with great exposure to high profile clientele. Great executive leadership.

    Cons

Salaries at the assoiate/analyst level need to be raised across the board, period.

    Advice to Management

    Reward employees more.

  2. Great company, little work/life balance.

    Pros

CEO, colleagues, benefits are top notch and vacation/personal days compare very favorably with other employers; pay.

    Cons

The company preaches about work/life balance, but staff, especially those at entry level, are worked mercilessly. The parent company continually pushes to make more with less, leaving gaping holes on key teams. Even though Spark has had two great years of tremendous growth, they are still forced to work with the slimmest of margins. putting undue pressure on staff.

    Advice to Management

Internal management at Spark is doing a great job, as their performance shows, but the parent company has to loosen the purse strings before they start losing more key staff.

Company with Good Intentions, but Questionable Middle Management

    Pros

Fun, young people to work with. Great benefits and flexible schedule. Excellent PTO and company Holidays. Ample training for entry-level positions.

    Cons

Promotions are almost never based on merit and are rarely deserved. Office politics are abundant and provide for a catty, stressful environment. It feels like returning to high school. As the office grows, more and more employees report unhappiness and desire to leave.

    Advice to Management

Provide a more structured process for promotion. Do not let middle management rule like dictators and watch out for bullying within the workplace. Although media companies often have more casual corporate environments, recognize when there are harmful and extremely inappropriate situations happening.

I worked at Spark Communications (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Highly growth-oriented, accessible, and energetic culture.

    Cons

Can be a mile wide and an inch deep - difficult to attain vertical expertise to relay best advice to clients.

I have been working at Spark Communications full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Really great people. Everyone is friendly and likes to have fun. - Very collaborative environment - Great benefits package - Lots of paid holidays - Bagels on Mondays

    Cons

    - Raises are minuscule and don't come often - For entry level jobs, very low pay and you don't really get a bump at all until you are promoted and that could take two+ years. They know this is an issue and don't seem to care - Higher ups are more worried about new business than the teams and clients they already have - It is always understaffed and people are over-worked, 50+ work weeks are the norm - Directors don't really look out for their teams

    Advice to Management

Pay lower level staff more and don't keep telling them to "work toward a promotion instead of getting a small raise now." That benefits only you. The "perks of the job" are not salary.

    Pros

The people are great. Good benefits and vacation days, often get from Christmas to New Years off. Spark is very well respected in the industry.

    Cons

It is easy to get stuck in a role or on a team. Movement and growth is often dependent on business needs and not always directly reflective of performance.

I have been working at Spark Communications full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Free food often, super casual dress code, everyone is very likable, massive PTO package, awesome insurance. I started at Starcom and then moved to Spark, and I like the atmosphere of Spark a lot more.

    Cons

Pay is terrible. Your work experience is largely dependent on what team/client you get placed on. Takes forever to get off your team if you don't like what you're doing, if they ever let you rotate. Management plays favorites.

I have been working at Spark Communications full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Hard working associates, free food, vendor events

    Cons

Inconsistent communication from managers, always restructuring, no transparency into (over)allocations
