I worked at Sparrow Health System full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Working with patients and their families is very satisfying.

    Cons

Was Only full-time caregiver,so was very stressful.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Would have appreciated getting support from management , when trying to schedule specialty procedures , that required another department within the hospital to provide a "bed".... I was often blamed for being to aggressive, when i tried to find a place Just to perform the procedure... not having my depatment to support the need to just perform the procedure was disappointing.

I have been working at Sparrow Health System

    Pros

Benefits were ok, pay was ok for experience.

    Cons

They did not take constructive criticism, everything was completely shot down. The unit was dirty and the inner workings of management left much to be desired. Being that this is a competitive bidding hospital, those with the least seniority in the 'hospital', not in the unit, had last pick of holiday shifts and may well have to work shifts every holiday.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to the concerns of your employees, you often don't realize when you have good people that are leaving because of things that could be so easily changed.

I have been working at Sparrow Health System full-time

    Pros

Coworkers are fantastic for the most part, management is overall great, benefits are decent, work environment is enjoyable

    Cons

Pay is woefully lacking for anyone with less than ten years tenure when compared to other related jobs in the region, managers try to bargain for their good employees only to be shot down by an HR department stuck in the past, management unable to get rid of low performers and as a consequence high performers are overly taxed. No incentive to perform well here as the ONLY way you move up is by staying here long enough, regardless of your performance. Very disheartening place to work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Empower yourselves. You're managers, you should be allowed to manage, not be told who to hire and fire by HR. Hold your workers accountable. There are thousands of people searching for jobs out there.
