I worked at Special Devices full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Excellent vacation package, slow pace environment, great place to work for people on cruise control, lots of training, multiple locations, opportunity to travel,

    Cons

Poor benefit plan, poor pay scale compared to rest of industry, employees treated like a number, HR simply "lied" about layoff history and bonus plan during the hiring process, management "lied" about layoff plans during cut backs, few growth opportunities if any

    I worked at Special Devices

    Pros

Location of facility being in Arizona and close to my present home. Peers and subordinates were willing to work as a team. Flexibility in being able to perform engineering functions to get the job done.

    Cons

Contract work. Was not given the opportunity to hire on full time. Lack of communication from upper management pertaining to role of engineer position in company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Due to the economic situation in the auto industry, Special Devices reduced it's work force to meet product demands and management has handled staffing resouces as required.
