  2. Great if you're an insider; not so good otherwise

I worked at SpectorSoft full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

If you're an insider, the pay is good and the work environment pleasant.

    Cons

Lack of respect for new perspectives and information is too closely held.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Tone down the testosterone.

I worked at SpectorSoft full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Any remaining legacy employees that have not turned on their coworkers.

    Cons

C-level and V-level are overpaid, and underperforms. Goals and commissions are unattainable.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would suggest cleaning house starting with C-level and V-Level employees. Instead of letting go of the people that actually do the work, lose some of the fat at the top, sad to say the CEO is really the one that needs to go.

I worked at SpectorSoft full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

A lot of engineers who have a lot of experience. If you take the time out and get to know people, you'll learn a lot.

    Cons

Very corporate environment, too many managers to people ratio so there is a lot of micromanaging. Go here if you want a place to ride out until retirement... if you're looking to grow your career stay away!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get more passionate people onboard and do more to keep them. Drop the corporate environment, start refocusing the company on engineering and less on maintenance.

I have been working at SpectorSoft

    Pros

SpectorSoft houses a hotbed of talent from all across the country. Working alongside bright people who know their job and know it well ranks high on the list of best reasons to work for SpectorSoft. The ability of the Senior Management to resist micromanaging it's employees contributes to the overall positive vibe this company oozes. Compensation and benefits are nothing to scoff at either, very competitive salaries and good benefits.

    Cons

Location. The Offices are beautiful and are minutes away from the Atlantic ocean beach, however, the town of Vero Beach does not offer much in terms of entertainment and city life. This is subjective of course, and many people love the location, but it is the only downside I could think of.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Honestly, Senior Management got the company through the dot com bust, the 9-11 economic slowdown, and the current downtrend in consumer purchasing. I think they know what they are doing, and I am happy the way they are doing it.
