I have been working at Spectrum Brands full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

It's $14 bucks hr. For Lehigh valley that's fair but not competitive to Bayer and Scott's.

    Cons

It's $14 an hr, for what you do everyday, climbing up and down ladders at Lowes and Homedepot at $0.22 cent a mile reimbursement it's way below industry standards. For instance Bayer gives you $18 an hr at $0.53 a mile. Also with this job you have to call in and out at the store, a real nag when you get in a working rhythm. No bonus at the end for your hard work and low ball mileage.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start at a competitive wage and offer a bonus if you want people to come back in March!!

I worked at Spectrum Brands full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Spectrum is always trying to improve, and it offers generous financial incentives to staff members who help it reach its objectives. Lots of opportunity for talented employees who prove themselves to move up in the ranks. In addition, the constant change and improvement initiatives provide great experience for employees who embrace them.

    Cons

Like most corporations, Spectrum is focused on improving profits, and if that means downsizing the workforce it will do so. The company can be very focused on quarterly results, sometimes sacrificing its long-term good to hit short-term goals.

    - Great opportunities for growth if one takes initiative
    - Overall good work culture and great people

Increase and make more efficient the communication between separate departments and continue to reduce cost waste; however; not by cutting jobs.

    Pros

Nothing good about this company. Poor management. No training. High turnover.

    Cons

Checks are wrong most of the time. You are expected to do more than what you were hired to do. If you complain you are punished

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at Spectrum Brands full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

I joined the company before we were acquired by Spectrum Brands and it was a great place to work!

    Cons

Lack of communication and information sharing. Over promising and under delivering on projects and commitments. Antiquated methods that are not efficient for larger acquisitions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop being so arrogant and try working with others outside of your immediate circle. You might be surprised at what you can accomplish if you do. It's ok to admit you need help or made a mistake, people will appreciate and respect the honesty.
