    Pros

It's a full time job with little stress

    Cons

Benefits are awful and expensive. You do not get to decide when you want to use your own PTO. No raises even based on excellent job evaluation.

I worked at Spectrum Health part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Competitive wage, beautiful facilities, great benefits. Able to schedule self. Floor managers accessible.

    Cons

Every other weekend commitment and not a lot of opportunity for day positions.

    Advice to Management

Try to spread evenly the weekend commitment, versus having some every 4-5 weekends and others every other.

I have been working at Spectrum Health part-time

    Pros

With all buildings in one place, there is so much opportunity to be anything you want at Spectrum Health. Excellent place to work. People are great, working together as a team, from all different departments to provide the best care possible for patients and family's. Every Dr. Is very well educated. Would recommend for any treatment needed.

    Cons

Starting from the bottom and having to build to what you want to do within the hospital. This is good though because it encourages you to get a degree and better yourself. Better yet, Spectrum offers a tuition rembersment even more of a reason to get the degree you always wanted.

I have been working at Spectrum Health part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Spectrum Health is supportive to professional nurses who are moving their career forward through graduate education. The EXCEL program rewards nurses professionalism financially. Physicians and nurses in the surgery department work as a team to provide excellent care to their patients.

    Cons

The hospital intermittently requires nurses sign up for mandatory overtime shifts.

    Pros

there are some really great and really smart people that work for spectrum. the biggest pro is the people you work with, the customers that you play a part in improving daily lives, and the things you learn on the job

    Cons

work/life balance leans towards work. (some) leadership. highly political unfortunately, leadership not always clear on direction. seems like choices not always made on a leadership level as to what will beneift the customers the most.

    Advice to Management

decrease with all the politics, and passing the buck. there are really great people working here with really great ideas that should be heard

I have been working at Spectrum Health full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Fantastic work environment Growing organization Community impact Leadership understands current healthcare landscape and is making excellent decisions. Incredible amount of opportunities

    Cons

While there aren't very many cons about this organization, I would say that while there are tons of opportunities to grow, it can be hard to make transitions once in the hospital.

    Advice to Management

The right tools are in place to grow from within, but those tools don't seem to be utilized the way they could be. There is a lot of great talent already inside the organization.

I have been working at Spectrum Health part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Large company, lots of opportunities.

    Cons

Large company spread out over too large an area, pay not high enough for what you are asked to do, insurance still expensive, even owning their own insurance company.

    Advice to Management

Couldn't give advice never met anyone high enough up, current department managers do not listen to other employees ideas, and there are a lot on gray answers to questions, when asked for direct information.

    Pros

    Steady employment. Good health benefits.

    Cons

Low pay, low moral, constant call-ins and mandated shifts. Tries to be a police dept but fails at every level due to inability to enforce laws under constant oversight of risk and legal depts. Nonexistant chain of command due to the ability to circumvent direct reports entirely to HR. Despite required job duties, position does not hold MCOLES certification. Immature coworkers.

    Advice to Management

Check your egos and politics at the door.

I worked at Spectrum Health full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Teamwork, family-like Co-workers, competent staff. The boss has an open door policy and takes concerns seriously.

    Cons

Standardization isn't standard at all. Lacks site specific new employee training. less staff + more workload = overwhelmed staff.

    Advice to Management

Standardize new employee training across the board instead of this site specific Bologna.
