Pays better than most entry level positions.

Cons

Inadequate training, volume forecasts are very inconsistent - need to make more/better hires since when employees get terminated or quit, the work gets spread around to those already having trouble keeping up. No room for advancement within the company.

Incentive programs would likely go a long way. Hire better employees to begin with.

Pros

Great pay with lots of interesting people to work with. Flexible when it comes to outside situations that affect performence.

High expectations were not met, was told by security guard that I was laid off, hours vary greatly went from 40 to under 24, rare advancement

Care more about your job and employees, be honest dont be afraid to do your job saves more trouble in the long run for both parties

The best part of working for this company is how easy it is to get time off.

Cons

There is no vertical movement. Once you're in a position, that's basically all that it is and it'll get very repetitive. You can move horizontally, but there's really nothing else to it. It's a pretty stagnant place to be. There are management positions, but there are very few and unless they get out of that position, you'll be stuck forever.....

Advice to Senior Management

1) Create a better work environment for the employees. There is a lack of employee appreciation, and the morale is very low. The only positive parts of working for Spherion is that it has a contract with Microsoft, and Microsoft gives us perks. Otherwise..the best you'll get is a pizza party from the company every blue moon.

2) Better benefits! Most the people I work with either don't have health insurance or get it externally since it's so expensive with the company.

3) Hire more capable people, instead of JUST hiring to fill in spots since the turnover rate is so high.

Pros

They did a good job of matching my skills to the position. I was sent for an interview in a timely fashion.

Cons

It's a temp agency! I am seeking permanent employment and this may lead to that, but the uncertainty is difficult.

Check in with the employees more often. Keep telling them they are doing a good job. Everyone like to hear this and it's important to keep the temps feeling secure.

I found Spherion a good company to work for and valued the talented, committed people I worked with.

Listen to your employees. They know what is happening in the market, can anticipate future needs of customers and are passionate about the business.

Spherion's has a good company culture and is a good match for me. I've worked for Spherion for 15 years and have to say that they are very accommodating when it comes to work/life balance. I enjoy the work that I do for them as well as the people that I work with (this combo is not easy to find). Management is very helpful and supportive. I've worked closely with our field offices and they are always appreciative, helpful and pleasant to work with. I would highly recommend working for Spherion!

Cons

401K company contributions where discontinued over a year ago--bummed that it hasn't been reinstated to some capacity yet.

Continue to encourage management throughout organization to be supportive of worklife balance options for their employees.

Pros

I am a recent college graduate that was hired this summer into an entry level position. Since joining the company I have had the opportunity gain first-hand experience and grow within the company. All of the employees and supervisors have been really nice and helpful. I even had the chance to meet Roy, the CEO and he was very friendly, approachable, and genuinely interested in the work I was doing for the company. I would wholeheartedly recommend working for this company!

Cons

Spherion has a very traditional work environment that may not be suited to all workers. It is also hard to find parking.

Overall, Spherion is a great company to work for and they offer many opportunities to advance within the company. I would recommend salary increases based on our annual reviews.
