I have been working at Spireon full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Have been at Spireon for a few months and have had a great experience thus far. Work environment and culture are great and my manager gives me the autonomy and trust to do what I need to do to get my job done. Sure, the company is going through growing pains and there are people whining about how that affects their work and how they've "always done things" a certain way, but in the grand scheme of things, to take the company to the next level, things HAVE to change. It's exciting, people! Embrace it!

    Cons

Nothing really so far. Can't wait to move to the new building - the existing building looks cool at first glance, but look closer and you'll see that the place is pretty run down.

I have been working at Spireon (more than an year)

    Pros

Company is making the type of changes needed to become a real technology company and cleaning up the mess left over from years of incompetent leadership and an environment that tolerated mediocrity.

Management investing in training of the engineering staff and hiring more engineers.

    Fast paced environment.

    Salary and benefits are decent.

    Cons

Lots of change and sometimes the company tries to do too much. Not enough empowering of employees and teams.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to invest in employees to prepare them for more senior positions. Focus on building an environment where employees and teams are empowered.

    Pros

Great health care benefits. The atmosphere at the Irvine office was great. There are great people that work there. Very relaxed environment and no micromanagement

    Cons

It's very annoying that your supervisors don't consider you for promotions or better suited positions. Management keeps saying they hire from within but that is not true. They don't help you grow within the company. It doesn't have to do with your capabilities at all, they just don't care that much. They rather hire big names so they can add to their reputation. Doesn't mean they're the best option they just like how it looks to outside people and they really try to impress but not the employees but outside people. Not fair

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Really try to help your current employees who have been faithful to the company and help them go up in their careers.
There are so many people leaving the company for the same reason, they don't feel they're valued by their supervisors or the company.

I worked at Spireon full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The only reason to work here is because you have no other options.

    Cons

The list is long. Incompetent management. Politics and paranoia run rampant. People talk about other people and are involve in other people's business way too much. It's impossible to succeed here. Horribly negative environment and high turnover rates. 10-12 hour days are normal. There is no visibility into policies or infrastructure, so shepherding anything through the internal processes is virtually impossible. You have to have grit to succeed here. There is a lot of C-Y-A you have to do because people are constantly trying to throw others under the bus. As long as Spireon is owned by an equity firm, there will be very little consideration for job satisfaction. Just come in and do your 12 hours and shut up.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Follow up on the employee satisfaction survey you did. Talk about the elephant in the room and FIX IT! Replace marketing leadership immediately. This was bar none, the worst employer I have ever had. Clean up your act. If you see positive posts on GlassDoor, it's because they were seeded by Spireon employees.

    Pros

Maybe the coffee ? the best I can think of when I left

    Cons

This company used to be awesome before big private equity firm came in (Bertram Capital). Then those people involved in buying shoe shop, start teaching us about technologies, imposed their own vision , criticize everything that was not their, fired people who knew the business, replaced them by complete idiots...
In 6 months they turned a good company into a complete hell.
Most of our bonus, compensation promised have been drawn into BS management complexity, reforms of status etc

in conclusion a lying dishonest company that will promise you the moon but will give you only humiliation in return.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop promising things to employee to motivate them if you know you will never reward them.
