    Predictable work order, decent work hours.

    lack in growth potential in fixed contract position. Contract changes may create an unstable employee outlook.

    This has been an area of significant restructuring.

    Pros

    Good benefits & salaries. upward mobility possible. Employee base is experienced, with a lot of good people.

    Cons

    Lots of new management, often from companies in unrelated fields &/or companies that are failing. General impression given to employees is that they are "plug & play". It appears that the latest CEO is following a policy he used in other companies of reducing direct work force by 10% annually.

    Advice to Management

    Start appreciating the skilled work force you have before you lose it.

    Pros

    Pay and benefits were always pretty good compared to other companies in industry and area.

    Cons

    Due to early management / contract decisions, very poor life/work balance. Middle management, particularly, worked like dogs, resulting in many turnovers.

    Advice to Management

    Strive for better life / work balance for employees, and listen to their improvement suggestions. It will pay dividends in the long run. Need more realistic expectations on new programs.

    Pros

    raises 25 cents a quarter, $1 a year, great benefits and insurance. Cost of living check annually, 1% raise one year and 3% the next, alternates annually. Environment controlled work area and have the local UAW backing you.

    Cons

    Hard to get promoted within the company, managers are clueless when it comes to how to build and the process in building the parts. They aren't hired for experience in aerospace, but for having management experience just about anywhere, employees refer to some of them as burger flippers. The higher up the chain you go the worse it gets. Great job of you don't mind doing the same thing day in day out. Asked manager several times to be moved to learn how to build parts for different aircrafts, ad never once was I cross trained in the many different areas.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your employees they are the ones that see what goes on daily and treat them respectively or they will make your life much harder.

    Pros

    Enjoyed the work environment, good people.

    Cons

    Managment strategy was all over the place. Was laid off as a pawn in a scheme to eliminate employees with high healthcare expenses. Was asked to come back to my old job with no raise or anything 7 months later. I declined.

    Advice to Management

    Get a strategy. Don't illegally lay people off.

    People are really friendly, and its a great environment to work in. I gained a lot of experience from this job too. overall it was generally a great experience.

    Cons

    There's not a good relationship between floor personnel and engineers. and it can seem a bit bureaucratic also.
