I have been working at Sport Clips full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Cute and Comfortable work unifroms (no more high heels), padded floors, great pay and paid vacations, tons of opportunities to grow in the company, the clientele is mostly men and they are great tippers! This job is a lot of fun and you feel like you are part of a team.

    Cons

We can be busy at times, which in turn can make you tired. The staff is mostly women and they can sometimes be catty.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at Sport Clips part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Employees are treated fairly well, even in Corporate stores (franchise stores it will vary based on owner). Corporate is not overbearing and their demands are not unrealistic on Stylists. Stylists are actually paid a fairly decent wage here, and when combined with tips, can easily earn $15 per hour in even just a semi-busy store.

    Cons

Corporate mandates that Stylists push up-sales onto customers. This can be off-putting for many customers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Marketing is lacking. Promotions are limited. Must extend more flexibility to franchises for store-to-store promotions. A salon without foot traffic is just a large money pit. Even if it means giving away half-priced haircuts, 10 or 20% of those customers will repeat 3 or 4 times, generating enough to make the coupons more than worth it. Don't be stingy with coupons.

    Pros

Good place to work if you only want to do cuts.

    Cons

This company used to start pay at 10 an hr but has dropped considerably.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

We got to school to do this work and should be paid more to start and should get raises without asking for them.

I worked at Sport Clips full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

I enjoyed cutting men & boys only. Satisfying tips. Uniforms are a plus. The tennis shoes helps with posture.

    Cons

Don't pay your worth. Don't acknowledged your positive. Sorry to say but they are prejudice. Depends on owner.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Managers need to be paid double of the highest paid stylist in the salon. Stylist need much more than a $1.00 or $2.00. Stylist have licenses to perform art. The income Sportclips provide is an insult to all stylist!

I have been working at Sport Clips part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The tips are fairly good, $40 to $60 daily average.

    Cons

Starting wages are low and it is hard to reach a higher pay per hour. Commission is also hard to obtain and it is very little added to your pay if you get it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Implement a break policy.

    Pros

I love my job, I've been with the company almost 8 years. Great clientele, owners that are involved, and a chance to really have your voice heard. Advancement opportunities are always available and pay is better than the competition.

    Cons

Each store is a franchise, so transferring isn't always easy.

    Pros

Nothing good about working here...A big waste of time

    Cons

It was by far the worst place I have worked, the owners are so unorganized and unprofessional it's sad(they have no hair cutting experience but think they know how to run a salon) Hmmmm and they wonder why they cant keep anyone

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider getting some training and brush up on your professionalism..Also pay people what you had promised to pay and on time not 3months late!

I worked at Sport Clips part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

99% male clientele. Great conversation. Sports on tv so there's always something to talk about with the guys in your chair. Better starting pay than other chain salons.

    Cons

Depends on the salon. One I worked at was fantastic. The one I just left was horrific. Incompetent, unprofessional management. Owners who allow their immature manager run the show and run the shop into the ground. Hire people who can't cut hair and don't seem to care that they lose customers or that seasoned stylists have to fix other peoples' work and field complaints. Don't follow company standards. No consistency or follow through from management. When the stylists care more than the manager and owner, it is time to hang it up.
