Pros
The people that i work with are great, the vendors that I deal with are the best of the best.
Cons
The company does not like to pay you well until you are an upper management roll, and getting to that postion is hard to due becuse they bring in outside people rather than promoting from within.
Pros
Good discount
good co workers
easy job
good hours
great products at a great price
Variety
Cons
management not willing to work with schedule sometimes
not a lot of opportunities for advancement
Open Christmas eve
Mindless work
No company culture
Advice to Senior Management
reward your employees for going above and beyond. Implement a manager traing program to develop your employees. More team buliding activities.
Pros
coworkers are great the job is a good starting spot for someone who will eventually work in a commissions based sales field
Cons
the scheduling is inconsistent and the pay is as well. I'm not saying that the pay is bad, its just inconsistent
Advice to Senior Management
nothing the management is fine. the issue in this company is at the corporate level, they need to become more knowledgeable
Pros
Fun environment if you like sports
Cons
MANAGEMENT does not credit or follow through on Good ideas, schedule is never up before the day before it needs to be.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop hiding behind paperwork and recognize when a situation had become toxic..THEN FIX IT.
Pros
- IT department has gotten better in recent months
- New technology being implemented
- Casual dress environment
- IT has a work/life balance policy
Cons
- Use to have a great discount, but it was taken away
- Brutal work hours
- No labor day or day after Thanksgiving holiday
- No bonus this year
- You have to be at your desk from 8-5 or take PTO time
Advice to Senior Management
Figure out who you are as a company and execute a plan against that strategy.
Pros
Pretty easy job as a sales associate
Can be a fun atmosphere
Doesn't require any experience
Higher starting pay then competitors
Cons
No rewards for working more than peers
No recognition for outstanding work
No career paths in place
Training doesn't exist
Fair treatment doesn't exist
Sales managers get all of the credit but to only 1/4 of the work (other managers are also responsible for driving sales but don't get a bonus for sales like the sales managers)
Advice to Senior Management
Learning how to communicate with associates and customers is key to retaining and acquiring talent. Failure to do this will keep your stores making the minimum grades. Training employees also is key to running a business. Also, define the position and explain what it takes to get to the next level. Keeping people interested in their future helps moral.
Pros
- Promotions
- Commission
-Move up
- Discounts
- Good Management
Cons
- Sales Goal
- If you are a sales accociate, if you dont meet your goal...most likely you will get fired.
- Too much Policy
-Management works really hard...don't pay off...
Advice to Senior Management
- Keep up the good Work...
Pros
flexible with scheduling (usually), ability to increase your own salary by selling ECP's and spiffed items (this can be great, for example if you work for 8 hours and sell 4 pairs of Thorlo socks, you just made an extra 50 cents an hour) fun people to work with, good place for young people to work while they are in school
Cons
constant "payroll cuts" which make it impossible for anyone to make enough money to get by on the 8$ an hour that they're making and the 10 hours a week they are scheduled...there will be 3 employees in the store and be an incredibly busy day. managers can be downright mean and completely play favorites, it gets really old after a while. high turnover rate because of extremely low morale. constantly being badgered about selling ECP's, and no matter how much you sell, it still is never enough, and the managers
Advice to Senior Management
pay your employees a little bit more if you expect them to work as hard as they do. recognize when you actually have decent talent in an employee and reward that.
Pros
Easy interview and hiring process
Have a friendly conversation with the manager
50 cents higher than minimum pay
Manager seemed low key and friendly
Cons
no explanation about clocking in, didn't give me I.D. number, responsible for running entire store as cashier, didn't explain about how much responsibility I really had, overwhelming amount of knowledge I had to know (ie who was working in which department), had me working about 25 hours my first week as a cashier at my first job
Advice to Senior Management
Offer better training for cashier job and first time employee
Make sure candidates know that they are responsible for EVERYTHING!
Pros
This is an excellent field for the exercise fitness student or professional to pursue. The company offers many perks for selling in specific departments as well.
Cons
Perks are not offered to associates in every department despite their selling capabilities or position held. This may lower the overall morale in the establishment.
