I hope to work here for a long time, but would like to move up the ladder

I have been working at Sports Endeavors full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great benefits, excellent industry connections, authentic soccer company, laid back and friendly, you can wear whatever you want (wear a suit or wear sweatpants), owners know your name and are there chipping it at inventory, helping in the warehouse, etc. during peak times. Finally--it's a fun place and I don't dread going to work in the morning.

    Cons

Not sure about opportunity for growth/promotion based on merit, seems based on seniority and politics more than anything. Needs better marketing direction--very behind in marketing for the size of the company. I think some employees have been kept around because they've been there for so long, but don't really deserve it. That's a con of the family business thing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Lacrosse needs focus if it's going to succeed. Marketing needs improvement. Create paths for advancement/promotion if goals are met (provide a clear vision)

The company still has potential but has lost its relevance

I have been working at Sports Endeavors

    Pros

Get to be around all the latest soccer products.

    Cons

I know it's a business that has to make money but from what I hear of the early years of the company, things have changed a lot. It's like there is no passion for the game anymore, just the dollars. I don't even think there are any real soccer people working here in the higher levels. The people who write the ads, etc. don't even seem to know anything about the game.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get some soccer people who are passionate about the sport. That will help you connect with your customers again (a lot of players I know just go to elsewhere these days). You also don't pay very well. I could make more elsewhere but lucky for the company I do love soccer.

Terrible. I've never met such unprofessional people in my life. Management is never on time & never do anything

    I worked at Sports Endeavors

    Pros

The only thing good about this job is: it's laidback & you can wear anything you want. Trust me these people wear ANYTHING & walk around with their stomach's hanging out

    Cons

Terrible lazy management that looks down on employees that don't have higher titles. They don't speak or acknowledge anyone who isn't in their click. All they do is walk around gossiping about people look for someone to fire. And the bad thing is, the Owner doesn't have a clue & wouldn't believe it if you had proof. The whole family environment is a huge lie. They don't believe in letting people move up either.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn to be humble & more approachable. We all started off as customer service representatives. Talk to & give your employee's a hand without attitude.

    Pros

The amount of overtime you might be able to get.

    Cons

The pressure and workload, the way the manager's treat you and the way the game is set up makes it impossible to reach the incentive. Also, many of the bonus they set up are in the form of gift cards and you are taxed on those gift cards.

Great people, great break room size, busy work to keep one busy throughout the day

I have been working at Sports Endeavors full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Cool facility, laid-back environment (at least on the surface). Fun at World Cup time. Decent insurance and benefits.

    Cons

Used to be a much cooler and more innovative company. Not it is all about making money with sales and saving it on salaries. Making money is fine but there are ways to do that without going culturally bankrupt. There is no vision, no creativity, and the same old uninspired leadership that is mainly concerned with the "CYA" mantra. The owners of the company have essentially disappeared.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get new leadership and come up with new solutions for sales, marketing, etc.

    Pros

It's a paying job. There are some nice people around to work with, and you laugh every once in a while.

    Cons

Sports Endeavors is a Trojan Horse. They are disguised as a grass roots company, while trying to sneak through the gates into the corporate world. Just another American dream coming true.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is no upper management. There are only the powers that be.
