I worked at Sports Endeavors full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

It used to be a great family company that had a yearly outing for employees. Mike Moylan is a great guy. The company has lost its way. All gone now!

    Cons

It turned into some kind of monster operations management experiment where employees are treated like machines. Three mistakes on the phone and you are out the door. Pay was horrible. It is a revolving door in the call center. They just hire people for the busy season and then turn around and find errors that you make to justify firing you afterwards.

    Advice to Management

Listen and care about your employees. They are not just numbers on a spreadsheet.

I have been working at Sports Endeavors full-time

    Pros

It's a relaxed work environment with decent benefits and short working hours. Not a lot is expected and not a lot gets done. Possibly the slowest workplace I have ever worked. Thanks to the booming Soccer market, this company is still enjoying consistent profits.

    Cons

Online Properties is broken. Leadership is almost completely lacking. The most emotional, opinionated, and often ridiculous person usually gets their way. There is very little room for experienced professionals with years of actual practical knowledge. Incredible talent continues to leave SEI because the middle management (OP) is so harsh, immature, and offensive. Rather than keeping the people with knowledge, a lack of firing has led to a plethora of the wrong employees. This company will follow the shoes of many other organizational giants who have refused to improve. SEI is failing and will ultimately become another has-been.

    Advice to Management

The website is failing the company and consumers. The problem is in the hiring and promoting process. The wrong people with no real world experience are promoted to positions that is beyond their knowledge or maturity. That is why we continue to lose so much incredible talent. I would take a hard look at who is capable of being in their present situation. If hard decisions are not made, the result will be disastrous. Please learn to hire and promote people with actual experience. If you want someone to oversea technology and the web, make sure that they have real world skills that match the title. Otherwise they will be forced to lean on other people's knowledge. The most obnoxious person at SEI wins.

    Pros

It's a soccer company and that aspect is cool of course.

    Cons

The call center management was terrible. You're treated like an inmate, they don't trust you or believe in you at all.

    Advice to Management

Wonder why there's so much turnover? You're pay is crap and the atmosphere is worse. Change the culture.

I have been working at Sports Endeavors full-time

    Pros

Laid back, casual atmosphere. Pretty good benefits.

    Cons

Low pay. Nepotism at its finest. A lot of key position are held by buddies or other very longterm employees who really have no business being in the positions they are in. Most are very good at picking the low hanging fruit and doing just enough to get by. Also, the marketing has no leadership and no creativity. They essentially copy the lead of Nike and adidas. Again, it's run by longterm employees who are coasting.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of some of the dead weight. The company has a lot of potential but it is never going to reach it with the current situation.

I worked at Sports Endeavors part-time

    Pros

Great place to work, free coffee, good benefits. Discounts on Nike and Adidas

    Cons

Point system. have to be logged into your computer and phone system EXACTLY at your scheduled work time.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the point system and clearly explain that within your first 90 days of employment you cannot be late from lunch or work more than 3 times or you will be fired.

    Pros

Fellow workers are nice and work hard for little money.

    Cons

Too many to list! Low low wages for call center staff. Uncaring supervisors. Management and administration are greedy corporate scum, arrogant, and uninterested in their help.

    Advice to Management

    Quit, cause you suck!

I have been working at Sports Endeavors full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Strong team - It's rewarding to collaborate with creative, passionate colleagues. Forward-thinking - In an exciting industry, the company is focused on growth. No complacency. Family culture - Successes are shared. Failures are owned by the group.

    Cons

There could be more transparency around profit-sharing. Finding employees who live and breathe soccer/lacrosse/rugby can be challenging in our location.

    Advice to Management

Match the passion and knowledge of our customers at every consumer touchpoint. Continue exploring ways to grow the business through innovation.

    Pros

-You really are part of an operating team, so if you enjoy working with others and competing with peers you may enjoy yourself -Supervisors are typically friendly and helpful

    Cons

-Pay is absolutely horrible, $7.50/hour plus incentive (which is very difficult to reach productivity). -Decision making by upper management is questionable if not down right ridiculous -Know you are replaceable and genuinely not cared about by managers and upper management, they will fire you for any reason they can think of -Majority of the work is seasonal, peak season you are "required" to work six days a week -Little room for advancement

    Advice to Management

-Bring on individuals with actual business experience who know how to properly run a company -Learn how to keep and reward good employees then maybe the companies reputation and turn over rate would not be so atrocious

I worked at Sports Endeavors full-time

    Pros

I was with the company for many years and they had great benefits. It was also good to have a large company in our small town. Once it really did feel like a family. The company is very charitable and helps the local community.

    Cons

** Low pay ** Too much focus on team SALES and not customer experience or employees. ** No longer the great work culture of years past. **Poor use of talent. ** Started getting rid or their long-time experts in the field. Replaced with lower paying replacement.

    Advice to Management

**You get more by paying more. **Don't forget the people who helped get the company where it is now.
