Pros
Room to grow and advance within the company
Cons
Stuck with bad shift when I first got hired.
Pros
Senior management working hard to address customer and product fatigue. Company has made significant strides in addressing overall customer satisfaction.
Cons
Little to no recognition for individuals that make it happen for the company. A chasm exists between senior management and their employees.
Advice to Senior Management
Recognize the hard work Sprint employees are doing on a daily basis to salvage the company and provide better compensation.
Pros
Benefits; it's a job (and better than no job); training is initially pretty good. Some opportunity to move up if you wish.
Cons
Petty management policies make it hard to care about customers after a while. The company claims to want to improve their customer service, but then turns around a couple of months later and says the only thing they care about is handle time. Middle management adds high pressure and demands that supervisors beat up their employees for being on calls longer than usual until many very good employees find other jobs and leave. They keep introducing new tools and systems that fail.
Advice to Senior Management
Say they care about customer service but in fact always return to caring only about handle time. Policies come down on high to get off the phone faster with customers even though customers' issues are not really resolved. A few months ago they said resolving customer issues was most important thing. Shifting priorities making it hard to work there and they petty way some managers micromanage their supervisors and their staff lately is leading to increasing numbers of dissatisfied front line employees.
Pros
Sprint does seem to care about their employees. They reward you with lunches and pizza. they do a good job of recognition.
Cons
There are two areas of concern for sprint employees. the medical is more expensive then like companies like AT&T and Verizon. The compensation is also not inline with the other companies. You will make less working at Sprint doing the same job at another carrier. They also will not adjust pay to match the geographical area you live in or transfer to.
Advice to Senior Management
Adjust employee pay to be more in line with the competition. Don't give good employees a reason to leave the company. You ask employees to work for compensation that you would never work for your self.
Pros
Competitive Pay, Room For Advancement.
Cons
Bonus Structure easily manipulated to lower employee Bonuses.
Advice to Senior Management
The lower level employees are just as, if not in some cases more, important than the top executives.
Pros
1. In general, good sales compensation
2. Reasonable management
3. Used to be a good team (not sure if it still is) and use of team work
4. Great mentoring and personal attention
5. Flexible hours
Cons
1. Changes are causing policy issues (some things are not being paid out anymore, new requirements and diminished flexibility)
2. Some team tension due to new management and new coworkers
Advice to Senior Management
Strive to keep sales quotas reasonable, be fair and open about what will be paid out, and explain why policies are being implemented the way they are. Keep seeking employee feedback.
Pros
Excellent pay once you reach manageent level.
Good benefit packages
Cons
Infighting and organizational discord cause an extreme amount of stress on those that report to them.
Advice to Senior Management
Under Hesse things seem to be improving, but still a lot of discord between organizations. Executive manageent could minimize this by identifying new ways to minimize overall fear and stress.
Pros
fun, challenging, and sometimes long hours! Customer service was of utmost importance. I.e. the compensation for customer service ranked higher than sales
Cons
Some times inappropriate expectations for certain geo locations. Upper and middle mangers had their hands tied and became just talking heads for the executives.
Advice to Senior Management
be more fluid with corporate decisions so as to aggressively attack each market not a region. By market, city specific.
Pros
Good work ethics, closely followed by unambiguous instructions from the top; excellent benefits, including GOOD encouragement to enhance skills and knowledge through tuition reimbursement.
One cann balnce work life well with personal life.
Cons
Nextel was excellent organizations to work at; however, merger with Sprint brought the expected impacts on employees, be it technology, work culture, or business rules. Added to the misery, was the economic downturn for the country as a whole, impacting employees leading to mass layoffs.
Advice to Senior Management
Reduce the "Churn" of the customers through improved customer service. More transperency amongst the various departments located at different corners of the country for improved communicatons and efficiency.
Pros
Good opportunity for advancement.
Great Health benefits.
Free cell phone service.
On site fitness center.
Great pay for entry level call center.
Cons
No raises for 4 years.
No 401K match.
No Tuition reimbursement.
Lack of communication from management.
No flexibility in schedules.
Advice to Senior Management
We need to put the focus back on the employees. A team supervisors number one goal should be to take care and communicate with each employee. Supervisors are two focused on conference calls and staring at their computer. You cannot improve customer service unless you get employees buy in. Work with the employees to implement change, not through them.
