Pros
Sprint is a great place to work. Most managers, executives are very supportive in allowing employee's develope and grow their careers. There are times when you work a lot of hours but there are also those times when you are able to breath. They are very supportive of work life balance.
Cons
The wireless industry is very volatile and thus work stability can come and go.
Pros
benefits, co-workers, location, job security
Cons
difficult upward mobility; constant risk of market consolidation
Pros
- Nice campus
- Great pay
- Great benefits
- Some very smart people
- Allows remote workforce
- Midwest based
- Great product
Cons
- Big corporation so performers can get lost and non-performers can hide
- Too much change; expect to change management and jobs often
- Upper-management has been around too long - stagnant vision/ideas/passion
- Too many people in some areas, and not enough in others
- No opportunity for advancement
- No HR department (they exist but are a shadow of their former self)
- No professional development - annual review comes down to a thumbs up or a thumbs down.
- The next layoff is always hanging over employees heads (At least once per year for past 11 years - sometimes twice)
Advice to Senior Management
Success for Sprint = Sell to Google, adopt their culture and eliminate all directors through SVP positions.
Pros
- My colleagues were kind people
- Decent Benefits
- Beautiful campus
- Overland Park is a very safe city
Cons
-Not forward looking
-Pay was not ideal
Advice to Senior Management
Being a part of the tech. world, be able to more quickly embrace change and surround yourself with employees who are able to adapt and provide critical feedbacks.
Pros
Sprint is good for bonuses.
Cons
Annual raise is a no go....Sprint has been on a raise freeze for 3 years.
Advice to Senior Management
Remember that it is the employees that make the customer profitable not just the products/
Pros
Experience and the ability to be independent/Training/Growth
Cons
Low pay for entry level position. Managers are great with helping you pursue your goals. Ability to be independent in your field of expertise.
Advice to Senior Management
Take time to show skilled workers that you care about them and make resources available to the. Keep employes involved about ongoing business success and stop waiting till the last minute to do layoffs.
Pros
Compensation package is hard to beat. The opportunities to move internally give you the chance to try different things you wouldn't other wise be able to work through.
Cons
Sprint Nextel at times is single focused and does not handle negative feedback very well as most big companies do not.
Advice to Senior Management
From an IT perspective it would be good to not focus on time and listen to employees about possibilities instead of always rushing to market to be first on something consumers may not want.
Pros
dynamic industry, pleasant people, not too political.
Cons
location. Salary is a little low.
Pros
Great pay, great benefits, employee discounts
Cons
Layoffs, poor choice in some management/supervisory positions.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop gossiping and show more attention and support to new employees.
Pros
Great people, flexible work schedules, interesting opportunities
Cons
Can be too structured at times; too many Sprint leaders are all hat and no cattle.
Advice to Senior Management
Get some cattle!!
