Pros
Great campus with nice facilities, and inadittion to flexibility to work remotely.
Cons
Very limited career growth for technical experts.
Advice to Senior Management
Need to cultivate positive attitude within the company.
Pros
It is nice to have the flexibility to work from home.
Cons
Ploitics, Advancement is not what you know but who you know
Advice to Senior Management
Look into how promotions are being given. Check out qualifications of candidates and make sure they they are not being hired b/c they know the hiring manager. Don't posts jobs when you already know who you are going to hire. Just don't post the job. Look into salaries and make them fair. People are motivied by money and how they are treated.
Pros
Depending on the department, can be a fairly low stress work environment. You get your job done, management leaves you alone. Not in the IT division, place is run largely by "fear based management". Do as I say, not as I do management style.
Cons
The IT division, is run largely by "fear based management". Do as I say, not as I do management style. Company is being run so poorly that are are taking away basic benefits, education reimbursement, 401k matching, etc.
Advice to Senior Management
Bring in the Bobs and selectively get rid of the dead weight managers you have accumulated over the last 20 years. Get rid of the nepotism and cronyism while you are at it.
Pros
Sprint does a pretty good job of helping employees find a good balance between work and family. Most groups allow employees to work from home at least one day a week and hours are typically flexible.
Cons
Opportunities are pretty limited right now for advancement though the environment is starting to improve. Merit raises have not been given for about 3 years and salaries are now mostly below national averages.
Advice to Senior Management
It's time to start investing back into the employee base. Sprint has taken advantage of the lack of opportunities available in the market place for employees but as the economy improves people will start leaving in droves unless they start paying attention to employees again.
Pros
Competitive salary; health benefits; great exposure to a professional, corporate working environment
Cons
Company instability; Competitive salary makes it hard to consider other employers, as they usually pay much lower; Tense working environment due to continued layoffs; Promotions are awarded under favoritism rather than merit
Advice to Senior Management
Although it has improved, minimize red tape and "too many chiefs and not enough indians" culture. Encourage promotions to be given upon merit, rather than condoning the "good ol' boys club" atmosphere. Lastly, find Sprint's identity again - they used to be the leading cell co. in both technology as well as cool handsets - quit cowering to the competetion!
Pros
Great work-life balance
Ability to work from home
Many oppurtunities
Low work load
Cons
Low pay
Young professionals are not accepted here
Terrible benefits
Advice to Senior Management
Think about the little guys.
Pros
Strong work life balance culture. Good salary and benefits.
Cons
Continually wondering if another round of layoffs loom ahead. Some groups have obvious favorites who do less work and with less employees some do more of the work.
Advice to Senior Management
Really listen to the workers on the front lines, we said for years that customer service was hurting our bottom line and perhaps it wouldn't have gotten so out of control if someone at the top had paid attention sooner.
Pros
I had a great manager; most of the folks I worked with were great! Knowledgeable and innovative. Great life/work balance; no strong emphasis on being a 9 to 5 job.
Cons
Downsizing; economic conditions meant there was a significant lack of work.
Advice to Senior Management
Don't hire and fire so often. It ruins employee morale.
