Pros
Good People here in Portland. Well Tenured and have a great attitude. There is a high level of autonomy within the organization so you have to be a self-starter. The product set is good (not the best, not the worst) and for the most part what you sell, works.
Cons
Quotas are going up and people are dropping like flies. If you can't sell, don't take the job. Wireless is a cut-throat industry so you have to be able to take No. Support is not great internally and the amount of paper work and tedious back-end tasks take away from your ability to sell. Darn near impossible to move up within the Pacific NW region. Largely a dead-end job.
Advice to Senior Management
They are trying their best in a difficult market. Former senior management ran the company into the ground, so it's hard to criticize. GET RID of the ivory-tower syndrome in Kansas City. They have no idea what's going on in the market place and so the decisions they make are often completely misguided.
Pros
Vacation time and PTO time
Cons
Can never get the time off due to business reasons. Plus when ever you get ready to take time off, it seems that is when Sprint Nextel decides to announce that there will be another round of Voulenteer Downsizing. And no one wants to leave the office when you are not sure that you will ahve a job when you get back. This can be a very large set back to morale. Sprint Nextel also has a way of lumping all reps into one basket and not taking things like quoa and productivity into account. you can work for the company for years and produce very well, but in the end they always give the pay raise to the political ones.
Advice to Senior Management
To listen to the front line people
Pros
Free mobile phone and wireless internet. The ability to work from home.
Cons
I was pround Sprint employee for years, then the merger with Nextel and I watch a good company die. The two cultures clashed, the name changed quarterly and then the NEW logo...sorry - I miss the old red diamond. Sprint was always a technology leader until we focused on "Push to Talk."
Advice to Senior Management
Remember that you need are in SALES, if you ever hope to grow revenue; continual inward focus will never make quota.
