Pros
One can learn a lot of valuable technological skills if driven enough. The site Manager is very knowledgeable and willing to teach and train his folks on standards and other device options.
Cons
Management will tie your hands and does a poor job of communicating what is needed before it's too late. The Manager may have been beat up and picked on often as a kid! There is a high degree of pressure to produce results, but no training on equipment. The best one can get, in the way of training, is on industry theory and standards, rather than product specific training.
Advice to Senior Management
Value all levels of input internally and externally before your stock drops even MORE.
Pros
Great People - Nextel made great hires!
Good pay with regular, annual bonues
Team members were reliable and willing to help out whenever needed.
Nextel was a fantastic company with a true entrepeneurial spirit and it worked well.
Cons
The constant misinformation from Upper Managment in Overland Park, KS made for a depressing atmosphere.
Layoffs are continuing.
Everyone but Sales is now outsourced to various different corporate entities.
Sprint is now the far, distant #3 wireless carrier in the US. It's only a matter of time and everyone knows the company is circling the drain.
Advice to Senior Management
Better communication with mid-level management would help foster a spirit of trust.
Everyone has always been waiting for the Next Great Thing that will save Sprint but it never materializes.
Learn to recognize that your Enterprise customers are paying a lot of money for special treatment and pampering. Nextel understood it well while Sprint never got it.
