Advice to Senior Management
They need to learn how to do some aspects of their job. Although, they are very nice people.
Pros
cross training, knowledge, discount, friendly employess, great customer service, all about the customer
Cons
open holidays ,close @ 10:30 pm
Pros
clean, nice coworkers, discounts, friendly enviroment
Cons
no health benefits for 6 months, consistenly changing schedule, low pay
Advice to Senior Management
Reward good employees finacially or with a good benefit package.
Pros
Easy work, day goes by quickly,.
Cons
Unknown future in regards to benefits.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to your managers, they have a wealth of knowledge to share if you would only ask before acting.
Pros
The customer would be the best reason cause without the customer there is no business.
Cons
The individuals getting hired and promoted at Sprouts do not have the experience to run a grocery store.
Top management is bringing in their wives, sons, daughters and other relatives with no experience. Which leaves no room for the individuals who have the time invested and experience wondering if their jobs are secure.
Advice to Senior Management
I would say "lead by example" but the managers are the ones breaking the policy & proceedure by making up their own policy.
Pros
great place for your health-wise customers
produce is the main focus
nice low profile store
Cons
unless your management your pay is poor, i was paid well
bad top to bottom communication
lagging way behind in technology
salaries froze for a year, expenses cut, so owners could sell out
Advice to Senior Management
you need to bring your salary up to meet austin standards. store management on up need massive communication improvement.
your really lagging in technologies, wearemanually filling out excel reports that other companies have automated within their own system
Pros
Time off when you want it. It's a job in a bad economy, ten percent off groceries, 401k is available. Hard to find pros, medical is offered IF you get average 32 hrs.
Cons
Low pay, men make more than women, men are promoted to management - most women aren't, crazy scheduling, they cut hours constantly.
Advice to Senior Management
Low pay, men make more than women, men are promoted to management, most women aren't, dont schedule crazy shifts and tell people to go home to cut hours and save store money, (after they take bus to get to work!!!) FIX ALL OF THIS!
Pros
The company is growing exponentially so if your willing to drive, then are opportunities for promotions. If your store manager is nice, work can be fun and enjoyable.
Cons
There is absolutely no communication between corporate level employees and managers at the store level. There are "growing pains" that have been occuring for over two years now. Regionals can be huge jerks, and not many people recognize a job well done or a hardworker.
Advice to Senior Management
Take some time and actually talk with the in store employees. I think this company would really benefit from an annonomous survey so corporate can find out what is really going on in store, and see how employees are really treated, and also how they feel.
Pros
In my experience, Sprout's is a pretty decent place to work as an hourly. I hear a number of people grumble, but they are typically the slackers and those that have not had other jobs. In my opinon, if you show up and do what is asked the day is a breeze and you get paid.
Cons
There seems to be a lot of mind changing that happens, but you go with the flow and no one gets hurt. I hear talk that "they" only have the customer's back, but I think that is most companies this day and age.
Advice to Senior Management
Be consistent and fair. Give reasons with scoldings. Understand, that the way you speak to people matters and can determine the outcome of a situation. Be kind not nice.
Pros
Decent starting pay. Healthy food to buy at lunch. Benefits are offered. The new employees are welcomed and have an upbeat attitude. 10% employee discount.
Cons
Although you may be hired as "Full-Time" your hours will suffer greatly if you ever call in plus management is definitely told to make sure you don't have that 32-hour average so as not to pay the full health insurance premium. Plus, your starting hours maybe 35-40, but then they hire new associates and cut everyone's hours in the process to 25-30. Also, the starting pay is decent but raises are only given after your 6-month review and only 2 employees in our store were given $.50/hr raise. Only the store manager will perform your review with zero input from your supervisors thereby assuring low marks. Performance rating system completely illogical and unfair to all. The President of Sprouts touts a 96% turnover rate and is actually surprised that there may still be an original employee (from when store opened) working there.
Advice to Senior Management
Train all grocery department on working the cash registers for when things get extremely busy. Show some respect and positive feedback to the red-shirt employees, not just the green-shirted ones. Throw out your current performance rating system as it is obviously used to prevent raises to anyone. Let supervisors do the reviews since they are in direct contact with us every day. Fully train the baggers and stop leaving it up to everyone else to do it!
