    Pros

ETO is wonderful if you ever get to use it. Parking is free but you will have to walk a mile.

    Cons

Management has no idea what they are doing. Co-workers are immature, lazy, cliquey. Treated as children rather than professionals. Expected to work 50+ hours a week just because I'm salaried. Pay is terrible.

    Sell out.

I worked at St. Anthony's Medical Center full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Good training hard workers. Nice compensation for staying past your shift to help out. Good quality surgeons in the operating room. The operating room staff really works as a team for the benefit of the patient.

    Cons

It is a busy hospital just like anywhere else. No other issues.

I worked at St. Anthony's Medical Center full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Organization is filled with hardworking and caring frontline and middle management staff. Benefits comparable to other healthcare organizations. HR has established a smooth process for termination.

    Cons

Leadership and management has a high rate of turn over; the focus and priorities are volatile and subject to change depending who is "running" the hospital. Unstable work environment and there is an overall lack of stability professionally. Anticipate Information Systems to build convoluted processes without frontline input and a complete lack of accountability for requests or assistance. Expect demands by leadership with out any support or resources. Lack of opportunity for personal growth; overachievers quickly reach threshold of maturity within organization and/or leaders make uniformed decisions and offer termination instead of mentoring.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Address concerns immediately and transparently, by unbiased staff. Engage staff by asking questions and allow for input by those directly affected. Examine the cost of nursing staff and management turnover. Provide feedback real time. Lead by example; expectations should apply to leadership as well as employees. Consider hiring a CEO with a track record of success in the healthcare industry and one without history of leading an initiative that resulted in termination of 150+ employees at St. Anthony's. Propose hiring proven leaders instead of physicians; license to practice medicine does not ensure leadership skills. Recruit leaders who would utilize St. Anthony's for their family's health care needs as both the leader and their families permanent residence is in South County.

    Pros

Decent benefits, wonderful co-workers, due to amount of turnover you have the opportunity to meet many new people.

    Cons

Administration has taken on a set of values that everyone who works there should possess. I agree that these are values that individuals who work in healthcare should toward patient's and families however the administration does NOT project these same set of values toward the employee. You are not valued, you are not accommodated, you are not treated "nice", and they could care less about your safety. Each day here could potentially be your last............you just never know who you won't see at work tomorrow.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Practice what you preach where your employees are concerned.

I worked at St. Anthony's Medical Center full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The employees generally want to make a difference and the location is convenient. If you fight enough, pay can be comparable.

    Cons

There's an endless parade of leadership which makes it impossible for the organization to settle on a direction. One CEO will come in and lay off a bunch of people, then another CEO will come in and hire them all back and then some. There's no real accountability for performance, so most things tend towards the mediocre. Morale is low because of the constant turmoil

I worked at St. Anthony's Medical Center full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Nurses are great, quality of care is at or above standards.

    Cons

Physician organization and how providers are handled by Hospital Executives leaves something to be desired. Makes a practice manager question what their priorities are and with whom.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Engage front line managers by keeping them posted on strategic planning. Budgets need to allow for seminars, webinars and the time to attend. Support staff membership in local and State agency's to maintain or obtain certification.

I worked at St. Anthony's Medical Center full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The staff that does work here try very hard

    Cons

Overworked (8 pts/nurse on a night shift 15/tech), majority of nurses are new nurses (fine with new nurses, but not when an entire shift has a total combined experience level of 1 year), no raises and lowest pay rate in the area

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please realize that patient safety is related to staffing ratios and address appropriately
