    Pros

The ethos behind St. James's Place is extremely good. Client/Partner relations are supberb therefore a very high level of client and Partner retention. Supberb information sources from company and fund managers. Strongly believe in SJP's processes and looking after its clients. Would recommend to anyone

    Cons

IT systems need updating as slow and keep crashing.

    Advice to Management

Need to update PROMS and IT systems

    Pros

SJP is a fast moving business and it allows its employees to take responsibility at an early stage in their careers. It is a very inclusive place to work and the senior management genuinely care about the welfare of their staff. You feel very much part of team.

    Cons

Its easy to get sucked into working very hard - mostly because you are enjoying it. But it important to remember the work/life balance.

    Advice to Management

wanting to constantly move forward is great and very inspiring. But it can be frustrating when decisions change at the last minute.

    Pros

Amazing company with great opportunities to learn more and explore more about the financial field while demonstrating what you can add to financial planning

    Cons

Very difficult for new hires to become partners and demonstrate to a high wealth clientele that they should be the ones managing their money

    Advice to Management

Offer better ways for new hires to find and access better clientele bases rather than assuming they can search for these themselves

    Pros

SJP is the kind of company that you love going to work because the workplace environment is amazing. Co-workers are friendly and very helpful. At SJP everyone definitely works very hard and everyone is committed to there business and their clientele, however, the company culture is very friendly and approachable

    Cons

While people are friendly and approachable you have to be the first mover. Once you integrate yourself into the social dynamics it is very open, but at first it can be a challenge. It would have been better is management pushed a little harder and guided you a little more.

    Advice to Management

Guide and mentor new employees more.

    Pros

As an intern it was great to experience the workplace in this environment. I was able to meet many clients working for a Partner of the firm.

    Cons

Must be self motivated to do well. There are not many opportunities to move up if you are working for a Partner unless they sponser you for the exams.

    Advice to Management

Since each partner more or less owns their own clients and firm it was a great learning experience working with a financial adviser who works for themselves. You need to do well to stay but if you succeed it appears the company is a good place to work.

    Pros

Great working culture with exciting and interesting work. Good work life balance resulting in a highly motivated work team and management.

    Cons

The pay packet. But being based outside London the salary is ok, however to attract bright high achievers management must go further to get them to consider leaving the city.

    Advice to Management

If the management want to push the staff then reward them better compared to the industry. Overall the management are exceptional, willing to listen to their employees.

    Pros

Well defined corporate vision and good investment proposition for the majority of clients

    Cons

Partner practices can vary in their abilities and opportunities greatly. Some our excellent and provide clear paths for individuals to succeed within, others are only interested in how much money you can make for them and don't really care about the client outcomes

    Advice to Management

Be more selective with the new recruits you take on board within the partnership and stronger with partners who think they don't need to work within the spirit of the partnership

    Pros

Great business model to succeed in the PWM space. Good insight into the PWM world of London.

    Cons

"Partners" are essentially sales sharks. There are no HR processes to help out employees that are working with these partners, which allow a free reign for SJP partners to sometimes misuse their position of authority to treat their staff poorly.
