    Pros

    Work with team players. I love what I do. I love being a nurse and I love my patients and want to give them a great hospital experience.

    Cons

    No appreciation from manager or those ,"higher" up. Unable to get more than "meets standards' on my yearly evaluation. After staff complained about the long and complicated evaluation we had to fill out to get our annual raise, a short form was created. It is easier to complete and most nurses are using it but now you won't get more than a basic raise. Management does not listen to the staff and most of the RN's I work with are disappointed with management. I need to work, do I stay.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to staff, pay them what other RN's make in county. Don't compare our salary with other St. Joseph health system RN's. Compare us to Kaiser, as they are our neighbors and biggest competitors.

    The mission is something the hospital and health system takes to heart.

    Pros

    Very supportive middle management and coworkers.

    Cons

    Poor senior financial management and planning over the past several years have led to massive layoffs.

    Advice to Management

    Need to attract new physicians. No clear communication how that will be done. Unclear how well the hospital will function with so many experienced staff gone.
    (Regarding the question Approve of CEO below, the CEO for the past few years is Steve Moreau, not Larry Ainsworth).

    Pros

    * Faith based
    * Great values
    * Committed employee base

    Cons

    * Core values are not as prominent
    * Consultants are used for everything

    Advice to Management

    * Try to understand that the employees and physicians are the face of the hospital. Patients receive care and services from the front line staff. Your strategic decisions need to include the voices of the doctors and staff.

    Pros

    Helpful staff, warm and welcoming for the most part. You will find a nurse or 2 who will help you out when you need it.

    Cons

    Sometimes you don't get your allotted break times. Some people take too long of breaks and leave staff drowning on a busy shift.

    Advice to Management

    Keep it up.
