I have been working at St. Joseph Medical Center

    Pros

The people in the department and throughout the hospital are generally very nice people to work with. Parking garage for employees is free and kept clean, as is the hospital itself.

    Cons

Too many managers and pay is low compared to other hospitals in immediate and even rural areas.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase salaries to comparable within region. Make a schedule and stick with it for more than 2 weeks.

I have been working at St. Joseph Medical Center full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Very friendly and helpful group of professionals all focused on the overall goal of delivering the best care available. Management activly supports individual growth and developement in all aspects of the center.

    Cons

Some aspects of the organizations work is outsourced to cut overhead resulting in differing internal controls and goals. The use of outsourcing contractors whom have their own goals might interfear with the goals of the parent organization.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management needs to do more research on these contractors and be more thorough in there implementation

I have been working at St. Joseph Medical Center part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits are good, great co-workers to be with, Mission and Vision statement is a basis to follow

    Cons

No opportunity for advancement. No support from Administration for the employees. Administration is never seen nor do the employees know their names. The Administrators do not follow the Mission and Vision statement. Staffing is at a critical level in a number of departments which does not deliver good, safe patient care.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your employees especially the April 2014 Employee Satisfaction Survey. The employee moral is critically low which is not good for patient care. Start having the Quarterly TownHall meeting again and truly listen to the employees' comments and take action keeping all informed of the progress.

I worked at St. Joseph Medical Center full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

It's the skilled and talented professionals who make this an incredible place to come to for medical care. Keep St. Joseph in mind when you need quality healthcare.

    Cons

Watching the dedicated staff walk off into retirement; missing their years of knowledge and leadership - but leaving an opportunity for those who come behind them.
