    Pros

Good cafeteria food and excellent community outreach programs. Workload is fairly reasonable.

    Cons

Management only cares about what you can offer them. Staff do not have a voice. If you don't have connections, you're on your own. Nursing staff overworked. Fast turn over. Pay lower than competitor.

    Advice to Management

Take care of your staff and your staff will take care of you. Listen. It is the beginning of understanding.

    Pros

I have worked here for 10 years, and the staff I work with is my second family, it is a faith based hospital and they offer lots of spiritual support.

    Cons

Behind the curve in staffing, pay rates and best practice issues.

    Advice to Management

Look to the staff to decide what an appropriate staffing matrix is, not to journals and charts. Need to focus on increasing quality and quantity of support staff so that nurses can perform nursing functions. Pt satisfaction isn't a quality indicator if it's only the same unhappy percentage of pts answering or providing feedback.

    Pros

Competitive salary, self scheduling, plenty of overtime opportunity

    Cons

Terrible ED management, shows preferential treatment to his "friends", upper management asked former coworkers of current ED manager to withdraw complaints against him when he was promoted, peer review consists of nurse practitioners, no bedside nurses on committee

    Advice to Management

Decrease pt to RN ratio, educate nurses with no ICU experience

I worked at St. Joseph's/Candler Health System

    Pros

    Nice city Pleasant general appearance

    Cons

Benefits especially insurance are not competitive with other national employers
Hospital Cafeteria is low quality, unhealthy and expensive.

    Advice to Management

Realize that always concentrating on the absolute bottom line decreases employee productivity.
Calling a group of people a team doesn't make them one.

    Pros

Faith based hospital, Priests and Nuns always available to comfort pts

    Cons

I work in the ED and frequently feel that the staffing is dangerous. Administration seems to only care that the pts get out of the waiting room, and that they don't leave without being seen.

    Advice to Management

Hire more nurses, adhere to the staffing ratios that you tell prospective employees we have.
