I worked at St. Joseph’s Healthcare System as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

A teaching hospital that encourages all employees to use information technology to improve healthcare delivery. People are very friendly and nice there, easy to work with.

    Cons

when you see how people are working here, you will find that all people here are energetic. The senior manager who I work with is a physician who want to using information technology to improve their scheduling work. Which means if you have to have the spirit of innovation if you want to work here.

I worked at St. Joseph’s Healthcare System full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Great salary.That is about it.

    Cons

All depends where you work. If you are in the apartment program, you will be surrounded by awesome people. It's like a family. If you are in residential, it all depends what house you work. You can end up with sour and bitter people that should have left the field years ago.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be nice and supportive to the worker bees. They are in the trenches and have to handle enough.

    Pros

It prepares you for a career in law enforcement because you are constantly dealing with many different types of people. You see much more in security here on 2nd and 3rd shift.

    Cons

Supervisors and management don't support the employee. You can do everything right and still you get stabbed in the back.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn to work with your employees, Not against them.

    Pros

I worked at St. Joseph’s Healthcare System

    Pros

My director was approachable. The place was not "fire happy." Many people had been there for many many years. It had a nice family environment. I felt overall my coworkers were good at what they did. The house supervisors were great. I was encouraged to grow in my career.

    Cons

Our work load increased after a "staffing study" was done. I felt there was no way to argue the "study." We lost help and that was very frustrating. Sometimes I think people were not held accountable enough.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The only advise i would have would be to staff better... other than that I loved the atmosphere at this hospital and it was a great place to work.
